You're not missing much. He's one of the more overrated players on Adelaide's list.

He has a fantastic highlights reel, which is why he's hyped up severely. The reality is that, when he's not doing that 1-2 spectacular things, he doesn't do nearly enough of the mundane to justify the esteem with which many of the supporters hold him.
Lol I thought you would have caught the Sydney final being in your home state and all :)

You had better tell the coaches he doesn't do enough they rate him top 10. Fact.

I doubt it, but each to their own.
$2.4 m over 4 years (Gibbs money)
A very young and promising list

I'm sure he would be in Victoria right now to have a medical and a tour of PP in the morning.

If his manager rang him and said - we have a deal in place and you will be based in Melbourne within 10 minutes if you say yes rather than wait and not be sure if a deal will get done. I'm sure he would consider it. He wants out of the GC.

If anything, they were bigger back then.
Look. Please don't start talking about McGovern and Modra in the same sentence.

"McGovern is going to take over from Tex"

"No he isn't, he's 15 kgs underweight and a couple inches short"

"He's bigger than Modra you know"

Best to just drop it...

I wouldn't want Rat to go, he's been superb when played closer to the stoppage, but we've only seen it a couple of times, preferring to leave him outside. Reckon he's got a couple of levels to go to yet. If we had a 2nd, Rat and that would be acceptable. But I'd still be worried it'll bite us.
I agree. I'd be very reluctant to trade Atkins. I think he is probably our only midfielder who has genuine lateral movement. I think he could be a great inside/outside mid with creative lateral movement in the Robbie Gray mould. He rarely gets caught and he is creative around stoppages. Not to mention his elite leg.

I'd like our midfield to consist of 4 inside mids:
Sloane (inside/outside)
Gibbs (inside/outside)
B.Crouch (hopefully can improve outside)
M.Crouch (inside mid)

Then Atkins to be our 5th genuine mid who is outside/inside providing a better balance. Gibbs & Atkins both have elite kicking. Lyons would make us too unbalanced IMO.
I'd rather those 5 surrounded by quick and/or skilful runners like Smith Charlie Milera Knight Menzel Hampton Seedsman etc.

Much better balance than this year.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'll be wrapped with Gibbs but:

Gibbs gives us a chance at a flag

A heap of mystical upside beans makes a dynasty
A heap of mystical beans also leads to a lot of finishing mid table.

After all, our strategy for the past decade has been about relying on these beans.

I bet if deadline was tomorrow, the same deals would get done. It's just all about the AFL stretching out the coverage as long as possible.
I think there's a bit more to it than that - player managers need to consult a lot with their players and contracts have to be agreed to before trades can go through. It would take a lot of time, plus there's instances where players who weren't expecting to go anywhere are suddenly asked if they want to be traded interstate etc... decisions like that can't always happen in a 10 minute phone call. Not sure how many player managers there are, but I'm sure they all have quite a few players and could be dealing with several trades and contract negotiations at once.

Huh? I want draft picks actually. The club seems to want mids.

We're building from the backline. Weitering, Docherty, Plowman and now Marchbank. Cripps in the guts. McKay, Curnow, Sivagni up forward. Still plenty of holes to fill.
WOW!
You're seeing way more in Silvagni than I, promising yes, star material I'm not seeing.

I will reiterate this trade as what I believe is close to the mark. Slight tweaks as Lyons doesn't seem likely to move to Carlton

13 + Jarryd Lyons + 44 to Gold Coast

8 to GWS

Marchbank + Stewart + Pickett + others? + Pick 36 to Carlton

Gibbs + 29 to Adelaide

End Deals:
Adelaide: 13 + Lyons = Gibbs + 29
Gold Coast: 8 + 29 = 13 + Lyons + 44
Carlton: Gibbs + 44 = Marchbank + Stewart + Pickett + others? + Pick 36
GWS: Marchbank + Stewart + Pickett + others? + Pick 36 = 8

Rates Lyons as Pick 30
Rates bunch of GWS players as Pick 16

One potential change would be to swap 29 and 36. In other words, Carlton get 29, we get 36

I Like your thinking but Id still like another true Hardnut in that mix. Think come finals we go in a bit soft there.

Norwood, Redbacks.
I would be more open to him than Cameron or Gov.
The only people who need to be open to a trade IF they are contracted are the contracted players. If they do not want to go to Carlton...end of story. I cannot see many of the current list who enjoyed good games in the Crows AFL team forgoing that to go to Carlton who are a fair way off playing in the finals. Maybe it is time for the Crows to go hard for Joshua Kelly and see what happens.

Someone forgot to give Bone his meds today:

Hamish Hartlett is still potential trade bait.

Gibbs for pick 13 and a fringe player or Gibbs for Hartlett and Matthew Lobbe?

I know which trade I would take.

I know which trade Carlton would prefer.

The Crows must play this one very smart or a move to Alberton instead of West Lakes is not out of the question for Gibbs.

You take the one that doesn't come with a lazy hack and a c-grader packaged together at over $1mill per season.

Just to put this into context for you, when the person, who has had the opportunity to rate and draft the most top 10 talent in the last decade, asked for players to replace Gibbs, he first asked for Lever and then asked for Cameron. Whether you rate him is immaterial at this point, the guy whose job is to maxamise the trade in Carltons favour and knows talent, does.

Yep.

Everything from Carlton right now is just posturing and posing to appease their fans.

The deal will involve pick 13 and Lyons and Dear somehow leaving us with Gibbs and a pick between 25 and 40.
I don't know about that pick 13 and Charlie cameron is gathering a s%t load of momentum.
The longer we make you guys wait the more likely it will happen and the more you guys will give up.

If Pick 13 and Cameron is your only offer, then you'll keep him.
