Touhy will be a straight swap with the cats.

You guys will still need to hand over pick 13 and a decent player.
13 + Mackay.

He's pretty decent, and about the same amount of experience as Gibbs.

Will flourish at Carlton too.

Now thats actually not such a silly suggestion - how many seasons has he spent in our twos now? And he's not looking like being a one anytime soon...
1 season.... and this would be one for the books....a precedent....never seen before....But what would this makes us?.....Carltons reserve side?

If you really want to continue this discussion, send me a PM and i will happily respond.
I feel sad when my two favourite posters start arguing with each other.

What happened to the solidarity of the mob?

Lyons is that decent player, great character, gets his own ball, and ruthless in front of the sticks. He's just 2-3 years away from being the experienced player we need.

But if he's not cool enough for SOS he will find a home elsewhere to play a long fulfilling and hopefully successful career. Blues will get the pick(s) from that trade too and we will be expecting change.

The media are beating up a hardball effort from the Blues but when a player, who is one of the club leaders, publicly announces he wants to leave then its game over (trust us, we know!). Salvage what you can or else ya just gonna end up hardballing yourselves.

What do you want, a starting 22 youngster who averages 20+ disposals and a goal a game?
No, how about one of our starting defensive players with a bit more experience?
No, elite outside run, pace and silky skills. He can also play inside and elite endurance. Played almost every game this year, ave 20 disposals and 4.5 tqckles per game

Otherwise known as lyons, cheney or mc400k

We get it, you don't like Gibbs
Our system works. We picked tippet up at 32 the year Gibbs went one. we picked Dangerfield up at 10 the year after and Sloane at 44 the year after that. All played better football for us. Than Gibbs ever will.

The trade will be done, but he's not worth 13 to us.

Interesting start to the trade period hey guys?

I'm not here to pretend that I'm a list manager or a guru and I understand that people with differing versions of reality post on all forums. The suggestions of a trade involving Mackay I could almost guarantee would be of next to no interest to SOS. He'll turn 29 during next season and is completely the wrong fit for us as a club. We are on record saying as such for players of his age. I think that should be put to bed pretty quickly in your discussions.

Given Gibbs' contract, I think 13 is an absolute minimum starting point as has been reported; I like many of you have no idea what will be added to it to make the deal go ahead but am looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

Gibbs is perfect for you guys and I think he will flourish if a trade can be arranged, we're sad to see him go even though the perception is that it can seriously help our rebuild. But that's where the key lies, if the trade for him doesn't enhance our rebuild, I think the club and supporters would welcome Bryce back into the fold.

If it does go ahead, I think you will enjoy watching Gibbs in your colours. He's a great fit and a sublime player at his best.

Mine wasn't - he's done nothing here and is starting to look like he doesn't belong. I think we trade him and give the kid a final chance to resurrect his career. He ain't getting any younger...
You're being overly dramatic, how old do you think Menzel is? His career is not at a point where it needs to be 'resurrected'. He's only been on the list one season, people just need to be patient.

That may be true but I think this will take a long time....
