Maybe we'll receive that early PP and draft Sellar to keep him in Melbourne.

Glad you raised that.

A classic example of the way that the Victorians think that screwing non-Victorian teams is fine, but can we please break the rules to help a Victorian team.

Hypocritical.

Can someone please remind me why Adelaide were upset with Fergus Watts wanting to return?

Anyone?

How many games did he play this year ? We aren't upset, we are absolutely enthralled. :D

Who would want to sign for 5 years at Carlton? Your team/club is self destructing. Look at the young players who want out...to go anywhere away from the Blues. Do you think Barnaby French had nothing more to give AFL football??. At any other club he would not have retired.

Didn't a lifelong Carlton supporter who was destined to join us re-sign even though he had the chance to walk into the PSD? ;)

I'll file that post under fantasy because he wouldn't walk into the PSD with Vic clubs or Brisbane looking likely to occupy the bottom rungs for the next two years.

He'll play for Carlton for two years and make friendships with the Walkers, Russells, Kennedys, Murphys, Bowers, Edwards, etc. who are all around the same age and the nucleus of a good side. Gibbs doesn't sound like the type who would play with his teammates and then walk out on them after forging
friendships in 44 games. If he is that type of person then he's a merc like Buckley and destined to finish with the same number of flags.

Maybe we'll receive that early PP and draft Sellar to keep him in Melbourne.

That situation isn't as fancifull as Gibbs walking into the PSD and ending up in Adelaide.
Just ask yourself why he did not want to join Carlton at this time...internal bickerings and sitting at the bottom of the ladder with no prospects of going up the ladder in the next few years...Not like the glory days gone by..

Are you really dumb enough to think that Fantasia has come out and said what he did without having a very good idea what Bryce wants?!

Which is, of course, one of the things that makes it draft tampering...

Why would he sign for Carlton?

The whole Goddard to Carlton saga is a figment of the online Carlton community's imagination.

BJ is no different to the vast majority of kids that are drafted into football, once they pull on a jumper to represent an AFL club that means far more to them than any casual supporting they did as a kid. It makes me laugh that Carlton's most important player was a die-hard Saints fan, spends a lot of spare time hanging out with Saints players and frequently makes public comments about his interest in the Saints - and not a peep from anyone that he might go to St Kilda.

Carlon's current position has nothing to do with why BJ is still at St Kilda.

That argument is rubbish. Carlton were just as bad last year as well, and why did Marc Murphy reject Brisbane to join our club ???
A lot of players don't pay attention to the position of the ladder or the chances of future chances or how the club is currently run, hence Goddard re-signing with St.Kilda.

Anyone?

pretty sure it was to do with all his public statements about being a one club player.

whereas everything from the gibbs family says the opposite.

can you remind me of the similarities? ;)

Believe me, you'll pay, and pay you will.
We are a rabble now, thankyou for reminding me, but in 2 years time, who knows how much we could have improved.

maybe, but lets be honest you're not looking like it.

And I also can't imagine that Adelaide will let Gibbs just walk into the PSD. One of two things will happen, he'll stay at Carlton or Adelaide WILL pay for him!!

that's probably true. I do think, as a close family, of high priniciple that Gibbs will leave after 2 years. I also think he will cost a lot more in 2 years than it would cost for him now.

you'll get paid.

2 things special boy

1. Goddard's family are in the same place
2. you are a rabble without a hope

Was Gibbs Snr good enough to play for the Crows when they first entered the competition?

What will happen: Bryce drafted by Blues pick 1 in 2006. The Blues have another two mediocre seasons which are plauged with infighting and board room brawls and Pagan is out on his arse. The Crows have slipped a bit but are still hanging around the top 8 and look ready for another tilt at the flag with some extra power in the midfield. Bryce and his family are in constant contact with Adelaide and he soon declares he is homesick but the Crows and Blues can't work out a deal so Bryce makes it quietly known he will only play for the Crows or Port and no other AFL club is willing to take a chance on a reluctant player, it's quite simple.

doesn't sound like you really do.

Actually, seeing that I brought his name up, I reckon I do.

And I reckon you have absolutely no clue who he is, you have shown me absolutely NOTHING to suggest otherwise. I can't believe you can't see the similarities between Damir Dokic and Ross Gibbs.

Uncanny.

I guarrantee other clubs will be willing to take a chance on him.

You are deluding yourself, or just plain desparate, if you truly think otherwise.

That is your way? There is no way that will occur.

Crows Way. Make it to where it matters instead of playing for draft picks who are going to leave the club anyway.

No matter how you look at it

Back to back Wooden Spoons.

FWIW I actually think Fantasia's words may help Port's case to secure Gibbs in the sense that both Carlton and Essendon may be a bit toey on recruiting a player that will leave as soon as his first contract is up (2 years max). That may mean Port losing a player to secure a top pick and one of these clubs get the extra player plus a very good KPP in the top 5 of a very good draft. Will be very intereting this coming trade period.

Do you think anyone would buy the fact that Gibbs is homesick as Alberton is too far away from West Lakes?:D

I think the whole Gibbs issue has become very personal to Adelaide because they felt he should have been a father/son player so I can understand them feeling bitter about losing him.

I don't think it will help in anyway to make a lot of comments in the press about the situation. What NC said pretty much sums it up, "what would we give for him? It would cost way too much." It wont get any cheaper either.

The best opportunity Adelaide has for securing Gibbs is to offer Carlton talented young players in exchange for their first round pick. The cost is just way too high and even if he decided he wanted to go home there would be a pretty fierce fight for him by Port Adelaide who would just drive the price up to a ridiculous level out of spite alone. Carlton may also seek to trade with Port if they felt he was coerced into going home by the AFC.

Just better for AFC to just say nothing. A team like Carlton could make sure he never plays for Crows by trading him to the Power. It would be a wound that would be open for more than a decade every time you watched a Crows vs Power game.
