1. Is he drunk? Can barely string a sentence together.

2. Does he even give two shits? Sounds like a fifteen year old being forced to clean his bedroom.

3. Does he even know what his job is? His response to the priority pick for GCS was abysmal.

4. Does he realise his Melbourne centric bias is causing some real discontent outside of Melbourne? The revelation that Saints are being propped up to the tune of a starter club is amazing. Melbourne clearly cannot sustain the number of teams they have, it's time for a cull Gill - especially when you have to rob Geelong of home final advantage to get them to watch the game.

Does he even care that his lies are transparent? Home finals at the mcg are about the fans? Bullshit, more than half the tickets go to sponsors. Bullshit, because he doesn't give a s**t about female supporters or players. This after saying reducing the fixture would not be about equity, not about player welfare, but about media revenue.

Its time for a breakaway league, every other non-Melbourne club. Do it, and leave the 1.6 million Melbourne TV subscribers to enjoy their minnow clubs.

I tell you what, Optus, Adelaide Oval, the GABA and the SCG/Homebush would be fine hosts for a grand final.

"It's pretty binary, the outcome. If you're a sponsor, you're paying for the 22 rounds and the 22 matches for that exposure. If you're a member with an 11-game pass … if you get less, you will pay less.

"… there is a theory of 'better', but you are still going to lose on aggregate, attendance, ratings, crowd."

Just accept less for the good of the game, you may take a financial hit for a few years.

MORE DOES NOT EQUAL BETTER!!!!

The game has been a commercially focused product of the industry long before he took over, pressure applied from media outlets to gain rights and exclusive coverage exists because of the age we live in. The reason attendances are low is because for not that much money you can have access to every single game on the network. It’s not that people aren’t watching, they’re watching at home.

The GF is a corporate revenue driver. Always has been really. The best thing to do is allocate seating in a three way split; commercial, and by each club. You have to have supporters getting those tickets however, otherwise they can be allocated for commercial purposes. Essentially come GF day the fan should have equal representation.

Gil should have grabbed the Liverpool FC gig. Then again over there if you don't perform it's 'see ya later'

$$$$$ its all they care about. Even something as little as the sponsorship on the ball. Players/clubs etc complain about the slipperiness of the ball yet 'we have to have it covered to protect the sponsors logo'. Just a very small example of the mighty dollar having a negative influence on the standard of he game.

You said what Gillon said. It's always been a Melbourne centric corporate money spinner?

Not sure if your intention is to defend his position, but if you say more people are watching from home, then surely there is no requirement to corrupt the fixture by giving home ground advantage to clubs that don't deserve it?

Even the seating at grounds is ridiculous. I was explaining to the missus who doesn't really follow footy that we cant sit down the bottom unless we pay extra for a reserved seat etc. Even for a game that may get 20,000-30,000 people at the MCG, still have to sit up the top.

Was much better when you could rock up and get your seat wherever you wanted (allowing for those who buy expensive memberships/MCC/AFL members etc). You still should be able to reserve seats if you want to but don't have empty sections when they havent been sold. But no, its all about the might $$$$ and try to get as much from each individual as they can. Hell a reserved ticket might cost you twice as much for a blockbuster than a shitty game.......

West coast vs Essendon match at Perth stadium couple few months ago.

3 days before the game I go online to get two tickets. Two options were $67 each to sit up the very top of stand in a pocket or $110 each on the centre wing lower level.

Took option two and paid the price.

Footy. The people’s game.

Same as any changes to the game, people still pay to go to the footy in record numbers so they wont stop making changes.

What I found funny is that after saying the game is for the fans and supporters, only 36,000 tickets are available for the Grand Final. That is ridiculous.
At the MCG? Where do the other 60-odd thousand go? That is insane.

It looks terrible on the TV too. Never understood why they don't put the people near the action when the seats are available. It's a nice upgrade, the fans would appreciate it, and it wouldn't look like a ghost town on TV.

Just more evidence Gill doesn't give a s**t about you if you are not able to make him more money.

Yep, the AFL has twisted themselves in so many knots that they are throwing money at clubs to counter their pro Melbourne bias.

Its stupid, because there is no problem if four teams are culled from Melbourne. Players will go to clubs outside of Melbourne, but not when the AFL props up clubs like Carlton and Saints, allowing them to draft and purchase players they can't recruit and can't afford otherwise.

So don't bitch about the interstate clubs getting a leg up please.
