Loyalty by the players is dead. How long before loyalty to the players does the same?

I don't expect the players to be loyal, it's always been one sided loyalty, since the clubs have no problem flushing you to the twos and killing your career anytime they like.

And as for draftees loyalty - if you are a Melbourne kid drafted to the sh1tshow they are running in brisbane, why wouldn't you want to get out the first chance you get. And on the same note - the feeling of realisation that must hit these kids on their first saturday night on Rundall mall mustn't be very pleasant

As it should be. Clubs are way way too hamstrung in the current system. If you are going to mimic American sports by introducing free agency you also need to include the other components that often make up these sorts of systems e.g. mid season trading, trading against a players will etc. In it's current state, it looks like the rules have been cherry picked by the AFLPA.

Agree 100% with this. Basically the players treat the game as a business, so the players should be treated like assets.
