In AFL.com Port Adelaide president Kosch is quoted:

"As Gillon McLachlan told me, we are the hottest brand in AFL footy at the moment."

Is that so?…now i understand the long faces of AFL ceo's at the last 2 years Grand Finals with Freo and $wans losses ….….here's a tip you Aint supporting muppet, the back to back premiers who record millions in profits every year (not 2.5 million losses like Port) and are about to surpass 70k members are a fair brand for your competition also…i think we need to win a few more flags in the next few years and maybe it might sink in for Gill & the lads

Cmon guys, leave Gill alone. He was simply explaining to Kochie the highlights of his recent trip to the UK and Kochie got it all mixed up.

I thought much the same upon read this. Hey, I do like Ports "brand" of footy and it will get them places in the long run. But let's not get too precious about it. They can think what ever they want and we'll do what we do best.

What would you rather be, the so called 'hottest brand', or the team that just wins flags with remarkable regularity?
i think they are or should be mutually inclusive….i would have thought the CEO would see it that way also…stuff them we'll focus on winning more flags and focus on what we can control

Over the last 100 games, Hawthorn have a Median average of 114 points per game whereas the rest of the comp dwindle away in mass defence, zones and covering their weaknesses with huge number of stoppages and average a measly 88 points per game in that time!!! One fruitful year doesn't get anywhere near what Clarko has masterminded over the course of this period yet " other sides play better brand of football?" Nah, more like catch up and then we will see! 2 Flags against defensive juggernauts, one missed chance in 2012 where arguably we were playing the most devastating football and unfortunate 2011 not to make the big one falling just short! All the while plyaing attacking football, the WAY it was intended to be!

Taylor Swift is arguably the 'hottest brand' in music today. Who would you rather be? Her or AC/DC, Led Zepellin, The Beatles, Black Sabbath etc?

Ok, enjoy your 15 minutes of fame and a bod that looks good now but will slowly but surely decline. I'll enjoy my true legendary status and my billions of dollars.

Some people are precious.

David Koch took over the presidency of a club that at the time was dead-set struggling both on and off the field. He's reasonably big in the media (I don't watch much TV so I wouldn't know) and under his presidency Port Adelaide rose from the ashes to within a kick (hypothetically) of knocking off the flag favourites for a spot in the 2014 grand final.

Don't begrudge him his minute of sunshine.

Goes back furhter than that. In 1991 it looked like thered been a death in the family when they couldnt award an AFL flag to a non victorian team
