Sale by 127 points over Drouin with plenty of Magpie players out today. Didn't see the game but they are starting to click a bit going by that effort.

Are Moe at full strength , or is that the best team they will put on the ground this season ??

Saw a thrilling game last w/e when Maffra stormed home to knock off Bairnsdale at Maffra. This was surpassed yesterday when Sale kicked 4 last 1/4 goals to finish all over Wonthaggi in the rain, wind, mud and watery surface at Wonthaggi, for a fantastic 1 pt win. Simply an awesome effort. Done without Kane Fraser, Pendlebury, Collins, Kaandorp, and coach Ferguson who was off in the last 1/4 getting stitched up again.

Warragul are now a chance to leave the GFNL and join Casey-Cardinia league in 2015. Also there is a Bairnsdale player , clearly identifiable, who blatantly put a Sale player into hospital overnight with his lethal elbow in the first couple of minutes of the game. Should be really proud of himself, and be assured that Sale players have long memories. All it seemed to do was fire up Sale to inflict an embarrassing defeat on Bairnsdale, who seem to lose a fair bit of interest after that. I guess a formal apology will not be forthcoming!

Yeah, was pathetic. I saw there was win tv footage of it. Hopefully something is done about it. Pretty nasty couple of days for the poor bloke involved. Weak as piss from the bdale player and it seems their football was just as weak, hardly putting up a shout other than dumping blokes behind the play and throwing elbows around.

It seems an investigation into the Bairnsdale player that put a senior Sale footballer into hospital and out for some weeks with a mongrel elbow, will now be dealt with appropriately. It was clearly caught on camera. I have seen it. It is a shame it has taken so long but a holiday beckons this "player". No room for that sort of stuff in this comp.
Sale were way to good for Maffra today with 7 Magpie players unable to take the field. Coach Ferguson was sublime.

Predicting a Sale V Wonthaggi Grand Final.
Still think if Power get on top in the onball area they will beat most sides. Sale denied them this but also shut down their forward structure!!! Bairnsdale proved to be undisciplined again and another behind play incident seemed to cruel/upset their chances. Maybe in future if they just concentrated on ball winning and not "targeting", then they might improve enough to seriously challenge. Maffra still in it, but need all big name players to fire at the one time!

2 horse race between Sale and Morwell. Wonthaggi were s**t house on the weekend, although a bit of that might have been the impressive performance of the sale side. Wouldn't be surprised to see Maffra knock off Wonthaggi on the weekend.

Sale full strength should win it. That said, last years final proves that anything can happen on the day. Hoping for a Morwell v Sale Grand Final, would be a cracker.

Holy Dooley! What the hell happened in the last quarter at Moe Yesterday? Police surely are looking for eye witnesses. That has to be a record - 45 points down at 3/4 time. Not a point scored by Sale after then. Got rolled by two points. Congratulations to Ratty and the Wonny boys for a miraculous comeback. Can anyone who was at the game fill us in on how/why this happened?

Sale have been the dominant team in the competition for the past four years, having lost only a handful of games in the home and away season in that time. But one flag and one additional GF appearance in that time would suggest they have underachieved for what they have promised during these seasons. Anyone got a theory as to why?

I was there if the cops need an eyewitness :p

Seriously though, what happened is difficult to explain... there was no real period in the final term where the Power's forwards just went "bang, bang, bang", their seven goals in the quarter were evenly spaced out, at a rate of one every three or four minutes (the match-winner was kicked with 30 seconds left). Also, Aaron Ware finally showed up in the last term after being AWOL for the first three.

And when the ball was up the other end, Sale's lack of scoring can be attributed to a mix of good crumbing and well-timed kick blocks by the Power backline, with the odd lucky (or unlucky, depending on your point of view) bounce thrown in for good measure.

However, I feel that Wonthaggi may have trouble coming down from yesterday (plus they might just be content to make the GF rather than win it) and will go down to Morwell quite comfortably on Saturday.

PS: In a game in 1995, Brisbane trailed Hawthorn by 45 points at 3/4 time. They won by 7. So Wonthaggi equalled the record.

Sale not able to play 4 qtrs for the last few games. Injuries had bitten plus younger players were found wanting to perform for 4 full senior qtrs.
Morwell and Power deserving G F teams and no further excuses needed.
Still think that if Sale had managed to have Jason Gram, Tom Hams, Mitch Davis, Ryan Pendlebury, Kane Fraser and Adam Wallace playing, plus not have both Gooch and Collins 1st game back from lengthy spells, then a different result may have occurred. One observation is that Sale were not able to create room in an always crowded forward 50 arc. On many occasions some 30+ players were milling around the ball there. Power did not have this problem , particularly in that last qtr.

Yes remember it well. Stevey Lawrence kicked a running goal from outside 50 for the bears to hit the front. I kinda met in Gippsland Latrobe history.

The karma train strikes again!! - nothing like a team meeting to discuss grand final tactics before you have actually got to the grand final to derail your season!!

Ferguson has let go of the reins at The Sale Magpies Footy club.
A little bird tells me there will be a strong push to intro a players points system for "many" leagues in the not too distant future. Existing systems in place at some leagues will be modified. Can't let everything on just yet but the AFL are right into it bigtime, for lower leagues around the state. It seems it's a matter of time.
