Seem to be struggling a little. Are playing well in patches at the moment but struggle to be stringing together 4 quarters. Players iI've likened to this year so far include:
Always consistent Michael stockdale, stiff to miss out on VC trail.
Heyne hasn't done much yet in his 2 games but very handy
Koby Stevens one to watch
Daniel McLinden looks good, a roughie as a 19
Haelan Kay stiff going down with an acl, problably ruined his chances after that
Dean Woodhead may do some some damage when back from injury..

Any other thoiughts??

Stockdale is a good little man, but won't get drafted because he is just too short.
Heyne has yet to hit his straps but look for him to do so in the next few rounds. 6 goals in that vic country/metro thing last week.
Koby Stevens is very arrogent.
D Mac reminds me of patrick ryder as he can play anywhere along the spine. D Mac is sweeter because he has an afro.
Kay's knee has ruined his chance of getting drafted and i reckon he would of been a big show this year with clubs most likely using every available pick and rookie listing they can with the new teams taking the best of the best in the next few years.
Butcher will get better and better as the year goes on. The real difference will be start of next season after a big summer in the gym.

Thing with Power is that they have some real solid bottom agers. Heath, Stevens & Butcher would be in the best handful of bottom agers this season..

Heyne had a groin niggle over the summer and as youngsaint said he'll get better as the season goes on.. the brain's still working as effectively as usual but give the body a bit more time to get back to his best.

Macca.. my dear Macca. he's travelling pretty well. still plenty of work to do before he'll be considered. he is an under 19 remember so in reality he'll need to be performing brilliantly and on a regular basis. hope he gets picked up

Stevens has been the one thats suprised me. he has a good pedigree, been selected in the under 16's country squad etc. in years past.. but he seems to really have come on. has no worries playing against the older boys. don't know if he's eligible this year or not but he'd probably get picked up this year anyway.. will go top 20 next year no doubt if he keeps this form up

:D

Nah seriously a great post youngsaint, laughed at the two above comments. But I find your posts a really good read because they're honest and informative. Keep it up.

And I agree with you and Bourky23, they've got a young group who have some ability, I'm expecting Gippsland to have a good run late in the year.

Takes the #1 forward each week remember. Super player, hopefully gets a run up the field later in the season so some recruiters can see the damage he can do when not in fullback

i wouldn't say Stevens is arrogant. he seems like a decent fella, who just has a lot of belief in his ability. that attitude will get him places

I went and watch the Power V Knights game on the weekend.

Heyne was very good early as was Stevens and together they helped set the game up for the Power. Heyne looks to be very outside but has some sublime skills and at times was playing as though conditions were perfect (Which they weren't it was extemely wet and raining heavily).

McLinden really stood out for mine and shut Hurley out of the game in the first half until the Knights moved him to CHB. The day didn't suit Tall Forwards but McLinden spoiling and general pressure really stood out to me on a quality player.

Others who played well were Stockdale & Francis who both just keep racking up the stats and winning contested footy. Butcher showed some good signs on a day that didn't suit him and looks as though he will be good in the coming matches when he gets a bit more strength and experiance.

Yeah I did notice him he was fairly quiet early on but worked his way into the match and won some tight clearances. However like many of the Knights he was too inconsistant throughout the match.

McLinden did do a great job on hurley. The knights actually had to get him out of the forward line because McLinden was just had too good closing space.

It really does annoy me how the little men miss out these days! Stockdale is very good player and deserves it more than a lot of other players, but as the game evolves i guess the little man is going to miss out.

Francis needs to keep competing as he is and may just come into high consideration around november

Was* playing APS football. Quit school in melb now back at Maffra Secondary or doing a trade or somethin i think and playing for Maffra is WGLFL. Had his first game for them 2 weekends ago.

McLinden is a gun. Very good player with amazing athletic ability and speed. He can be used anywhere on the field but i would think more suited to defence. He is used as a stopper in the power team but is a very creative player who is a bit like Fletcher from Essendon who can get his body in the way somehow but also sets up alot of attacking drive. He has a strong body and can match it with the men quite easy as he has shown last season with the seniors from Sale.

Finally deano has come back to BIG FOOTY.....

haha nice! umm back on topic.. McLinden, Dessent & Davis played Seniors for Sale on the weekend.. Dessent and Davis did quite well i thought.. McLinden was the interesting one.. came off in the first quarter and didn't return.. i saw him last night and from memory he said it was a shoulder niggle of some kind but nothing major.. don't hold me to that tho as i wasn't in the best frame of mind when i spoke to him.. beer is an evil substance

They got the Jets at Moe this weekend.
Davis has been recalled and will be up at full forward. With Dessent and McLinden being the talls in defence. Hyne Butcher and Carr are out with Vic Country commitments and possibly a couple of others. So it will be tough but can see them getting up with McLinden starring all over the ground.

disappointing result for the boys on the weekend.. led all day then lost it at the end.. power seem to struggle more than most teams when their big names don't play.. fantastic to see stevens best on ground:thumbsu: will do his selection chances in game two for VC no harm at all

Koby good for three quarters but shut down by Jets in last quarter - probably didn't get a touch (but he wasn't on his own). Six unanswered goals - not good.

Well the Power boys had an excellent win today. After a tight struggle up till 1/4 time they then pushed ahead in the 2nd quarter and could have had the game wrapt up by half time however they missed about 5 shots from directly in front 30-45m out... 2nd half was a mere formaility and power dominated the 3rd quarter and the 4th was just regulation stuff...
I think it might be Francis i was at the other end of the ground so not sure, but there was a snap from the boundary about 35m out to just inside in the goal square and he vollyed it out of mid year straight through the big sticks. Was prob highlight of the day...
Butcher played very well and the power boys did well to give him space in the forward line. Bendigo didnt really have a good matchup on him and he used his body well in contests to out mark the opposition... Good rebound for a poor game for vc.
No real standouts in midfield was fairly duey in the first quarter so ball was on the ground a fair bit and there was alot of simple marks dropped. Blair played well as did Stevens and Francis but no-one was a real game breaker today.
Heyne after last weekends heroics for VC couldnt really get into the game, did get a few touches and marks in the last quarter though. Put the ball out of bounds from about 15m directly in front was off balance as he'd just broke from contest but it was highly comical.
All in all a very comfortable win by power and they are starting to find their form now but they are by no means at their peak, there is still alot im improvement as a team to work on.

Large Grammar representation on this thread boys, good work.
Jord Dessent is a player isn't he! Not bad at all.

Who's the big beanpole from Newhaven, he's rucking for Power??

Played GIS cricket..
