The charlie bashing is pretty bad here, He is a better mark then both kent and henry put together, latish in the game charlie kicked to henry in the pocket it was a perfect kick, went out of bounds you know why, henry dropped it, bounced straight off his hands, yet everyone blame charlie even blighty.

When the ball goes to ground there isnt many better 190 cm players around their ankles then charlie.

Yes i kicked the tv when he kicked it out on the full on the snap, and when he is about 80 from goal and his eyes are darting around like a deer in the headlights, but we all know why that is, he isnt there to lead to himself!

We really need to get off his back, He would have had a similar game to stevie johnson on the weekend, dont see many people calling for his head at this point, not that I am either, but i believe at Charlies peak he can be as damaging as Stevie, not in the same way but as damaging. steve costs us few goals on occasions too.

when Stevie is damaging it is because he is kicking goals and creating opportunities. Charlie's damaging play has the same outcome... for the opposition.

athleticism pales into insignificance when a player has no ball skills... gardiner is a totally useless player with no composure when it comes to disposing of the ball... delisting material imo

Perhaps this year's bad performances will be enough to wake him up and get him working hard. He had a far lighter preseason than most as he was injured for most of it (yes I know Johnno was as well, but he's a freak), hopefully he can remain fit (I can't see him getting injured in the stands) and put in a blinder over summer and be ready to prove the doubters wrong. He has one more year to prove himself capable of playing consistent footy at the top level. By the way, does anyone know how long he's contracted for?

He re-signed mid 2003, at the same time as Darren Mllburn and Henry Playfair.

Given our record it's fair to assume it was a 2-year deal which would mean he'd be out of contract at the end of the season.

He's tall-ish, athletic, and could be a very versatile player if he could play football. :p
I think that sentence sums up modern footballers quite well. Clubs draft players with a strong focus on athleticism and beep tests and bollocks like that, and football skills sometimes come second. Two supreme examples are Cameron Ling and Steve Johnson. Neither are particularly great athletes, but both are natural and creative footballers. Under pressure football skills win out every time. We learnt the hard way with David Clarke the difference between a footballer and an athlete trying to be a footballer.

I think Gardiner is better than Clarke, but he needs to train like a bastard over the summer and improve his skills. I couldn't care less what his beep test is, I'd rather someone who can hit a target every time. Every footballer should have good disposal, it's not like they're curing cancer in their spare time. They don't do anything else, they have no excuse.
