I think we will keep him. He wouldn't have been given a game if they weren't considering it.

Hopefully we have learnt from the monumental ferkup your club made in not keeping Brad Smith last year, and give a good player down on luck a fair chance.

Haddrill does not deserve another year.

His performance against Port just confirmed that he is a shadow of his former self.

Sure the guy has had bad luck - thats just tough.

Its time for Haddrill to move on to life after football.

I think its time you found another team to support or atleast tell us which one you do follow. It clearly isnt Fremantle with some of the comments you make here.

he has been very injury prone as we all know. Could he get back to his best? He was AA form a long time ago now. He certainly showed a bit against Port, but can his body hack another AFL season - or is he just taking up space on the list?

Look mate, FFC is in the business of winning football games, not running a charity for washed up sportsmen like Haddrill.

Was Haddrill once a good player? yes

Was he unlucky to have such a bad run with injuries? yes

But, the club cant keep this guy on the books just because he "got dealt a tough hand". He is taking up space on the list.

I respectfully disagree . Sir Robert had a good game against Port .

11 touchs (Tredrea had 6) zero errors and a team high (3rd game high) seven 1% ers (spoils , sheperds , knock ons , smothers ) shows that He still has it.

It doesnt make a lot of sense to persist with the guy for so long and than when he finally gets fit to cut him loose. Would be crazy to get rid of him, he can fill the position that is our biggest weakness.
On a side note good to see Fraser retire, we seem to have trouble with him.

unfortunately (and to my own disgust) i couldnt watch the game on the weekend, but in todays game lift out it says "Robert Haddrill, who appeared to pla through soreness against port" he is not on the injury list for the weekend, so i can only assume that they are referring to his battered body. if that is the case and he looked sore in his only game for the season, then how can freo keep him on the list. i rate him as a player, but surely he has to be able to make it through a pre-season and then the actual season. if hte paper is correct, he didnt look great during the game. to those that saw the game, did he look like he was struggling?

That's what worries me. We sign him and then he has another long term injury.... or his body is just too battered to be a consistent contributor.

yeah. although maybe a one year, performance based deal. i doubt any other team would want him, so im sure he would take whatever he can. imagine if he did get back though, would be sensational. i just wonder if his knee is simialr to j-lo's virtually unfixable

I would re-sign him for one more year without a doubt. He is easily our best defender when fit and is well worth the risk. LONG LIVE SIR ROBERT!

How do defenders prove themselves in the WAFL?

By all reports Brock and Haddrill had very average season's in the WAFL, yet played great games against Port.

It's obviously not like midfielder or forwards where their stat's speak for themselves.

Your club had the option of giving Brad Smith one more year.

You have all the scoops dont you Kirke? Is he gonna get a contract. I think a good option would be to not sign him until the last minute. See how his body holds up before Christmas and than sign him or cut him loose before the PSD.

Tend to agree. It simply depends on how fit he is, something very few of us here really know. If he is likely to play the season, he's worth keeping on our list, especially if Harvey wants to throw McPharlin up forward more than once or twice a year.
