1. Matt Berninger - The National
An album with just his voice over an acoustic guitar or piano would be incredible.

2. Jen Boyce - ball park music (has a couple of songs on unearthed, but not counting that)
Really, really good voice. Last time I saw them she got the chance to sing a few verses of a Beatles song (no idea which one) and it was amazing.

3. Jono Ma - Jagwar Ma
Has been described as a "synth lord" by the guys from flight facilities, as well as other equally high comments from a few other people. I'd like to see the result of the extra freedom of a solo album.

4. Sergio Pizzorno - Kasabian
The brains behind Kasabian. Has a good voice in his own right. A solo project I imagine would be quite good. Just ask him

5. Josh Homme - QOTSA and the rest
I just love him

You need to leave a new Top 5 for others to contemplate.
Gracias senor.

It appears most people are having difficulty thinking of acts who never released an actual album. Most one hit wonders have probably released an album, to try to cash in on their hit single. No matter what genre you focus upon, this looks like a tricky one. Even The Wombles released albums.

That last post made me think a bit laterally.

1 Mozart
2 Beethoven
3 Brahms
4 Wagner
5 Strauss

None of them released an album.

Top 5 acts bands who, despite trying, never had a top ten hit anywhere.

It's difficult to find acts who never had a top 10 hit in any country. Using "The Virgin Book of British Hit Singles" (2008 version), I was able to find a few who never cracked the top 10 in Britain. These are my top 5 choices:

AC/DC (best effort: Heatseeker reached #12 in 1988)
Beck (best effort: The New Pollution reached #14 in 1997)
Cream (best effort: I Feel Free reached #11 in 1966)
Judas Priest (best effort: Breaking the Law reached #12 in 1980)
Wilson Pickett (best effort: In the Midnight Hour reached #12 in 1965)
