Edinburgh - where I'm currently sitting - is also undeniably a beautiful city. Glasgow is not.

Yep. Glasgow is relatively "new" city, a port child of industry and trade. Edinburgh is an ancient city. But still, its natural setting is just tremendous.

I actually have to go and buy my girlfriend a Xmas prezzie now, which will involve walking over the Bridges and absorbing that magnificent view. If I was doing it in Glasgow, I'd go to Buchanan Street, which could be any shopping strip in the western world.
