As I told you in an sms, Will, glasses make you look professional.

Thanks, Suz. Can't wait to get my glasses, actually.

Funny as it is, being on the computer as often as I am, as an occupational hazard, it's a wonder that this never happened sooner for me.

But when Jen said that glasses will make me look intelligent, I told her that it would be just an illusion in that area. :p

I've worn glasses since 1962! However, I now wear contact lenses in public. About five years ago I started wearing reading glasses when needed. My students told me that I looked like a professor when I put them on in class. I now have a pair of fold-up reading glasses. I think I look more like the Nutty Professor now - the Jerry Lewis version.

They look good on journalists. I bet when you go into work later you will be surprised at how many of your colleagues wear glasses.

That's true, Suz. A few of us at the Ballarat Courier do.

My direct editor over in Sport does. I have a colleague who not only has worn them, but is having a vision-corrective surgery done this week. And I'm sure there are at least a couple of others in my wing of the building who do, as well.

As for contacts, I could never do that. I know it's altogether different, but the thought of putting my finger in my eye, or anywhere towards it beyond the eyelid is something I just can't fathom. Makes me nauseous, really.

So it's glasses for me.

A friend of mine wears both contacts and glasses but not at the same time. She sometimes doesn't wear her glasses in when I see her. She looks great with them. She is a teacher and she works at SMB in Ballarat.

OK, I finally picked up my glasses from the optometrist's this morning. Got a nice two-for-one deal, too.

And after putting them on for the first time, and having worn them all day... gawd, this feels weird.

It's definitely going to take some getting used to, especially in terms of judging depth and distances.

And they seem to look OK on me, I guess... not sure how they look on me, although I'm sure Jen will register her first-hand opinion on here later. :)

I started to have real problems seeing the scoreboard (and the players numbers) at the footy during 1999.

So, for 2000, I decided to get glasses. Now, I wear them pretty much everytime I drive, watch the TV or go to the footy. But I don't wear them at any other times.

And don't worry you_idiot, you will get used to it. Just don't forget to wear them when you go to the footy. If I forget to put them on, I might as well go home, because my chances of seeing the game are nil.

Funny you should mention that, Dan.

I picked up my glasses before I left to go cover a country game today, as per my weekly assignment for the local paper here in Ballarat. The extra pit-stop time that it took for us to run that side errand meant that just about all the parking spaces around the oval in Clunes were taken. So that meant we had to park behind a forward pocket, or damn close to one.

Anyway, to make a long story short, when looking down at the opposite end of the oval, I can see the numbers on the players' guernseys much clearer now. I took my glasses off for a split-second to wipe them, and looking down there made me realise something-- I'm as blind as a bat!

Well, maybe not, but it was "blur city". It's all good, though, as one of Newlyn's coaches and myself were having a good laugh about it afterwards.

Also, some of the locals I usually encounter around the country footy here, and who recognise me, seemed to be looking at me with a greater reverence than usual. If it wasn't because of my preview articles in Saturday morning's Ballarat Courier, then it must be because of the glasses. :)

But nonetheless, my sight feels much improved. And as was the case for you, seems like a wise decision.

One other point of Dan's I wanted to address...

When I picked up the glasses this morning, this little exchange between me and one of the optical workers there:

Him: "You'll have to wear these whenever you're driving, a passenger in a vehicle, reading, on the computer, or watching TV."

Me: "Oh my god! That'll be every waking moment of the day!!"

Definitely a major change in my life...

I don't need to wear mine when I am reading a book or on the computer, because I only have trouble seeing thngs from a distance, where it gets all blurry. Have no problem seeing things from close in. It's about time I got a new prescription too, so I might pop into Merringtons later this week, and get them tested again.

A friend of mine wears glasses. Another guy I know doesn't. The guy without glasses can fly, is immune to bullets, and saves the planet on a daily basis. The voices of these two people sound almost identical. But it's not the same dude.

Afterall.....one of them wears glasses, the other doesn't.

Peace,

I have a crush on a guy that wears glasses - they make him look so hot! :D

So there you go guys - its not all bad news from the perspective a woman :P

Having said that, I feel a bit self-conscious when I have mine on a work so when certain males *ahem* stop by my desk I remove mine because I worry that they make me look ug.

The reverse is true too, some girls look cute with glasses. ;)

I hate people who, when they're talking to you, look at you over the top of their glasses. It's ****ing annoying for some reason.

Time for my opinion :D Yes, they do look good on you honey. I love the glasses with the gold rim, they look VERY expensive :)

It will feel weird for a little while until you get used to them, then you will just forget they are there.

:)

"Sexy" factor down, "flirty" factor up. ;)

Nothing wrong with that. After all, it's just a bit of attitude and an ego lift. :D

Day Two, and yes, it still does feel weird having them on, and the moments after taking them off as well.

Actually, honey, they are quite comfortable, and I think that fact will help me get used to them. :)

My god you lot are pathetic. ;)

I started wearing glasses when only 18 mths old.

I stopped when I was 16. I got contacts.

I stiffed those a few years later (meaning I got rid of them) d'uh!

I now wear a sophisticated pair of gold rimmed specs when driving and doing precise art work.

I used to leave them on the driveway at home, asleep on the piano, parked on the dog's nose, anywhere I could get rid of them.

I had 'em before they were cool.

:)

Or you could try the movie look, where you put your hair in ponytail, with glasses, then you take the ponytail off and flick the hair back, take the glasses of, and presto - a hottie!
