What a joke. Smash a glass on someone's face as they are sitting down having a chat, risking very serious injury and get off near enough scot-free (no pun intended). Pretty much true to form for the soft utensil judges dishing out 'sentences' in Victoria unfortunately.

I consider myself a bit of a libertarian, but I have no idea how a fine (no matter how big) is appropriate for an offence like this.
Ah, I remember the one and only time I was in Lygon Street pretty well...
Having lunch at an Italian place, decided to go for a walk afterwards, and saw a guy sitting at the corner of an Espirit (or however you spell it, girls clothing brand place). His head had been bashed in, his whole body was practically covered with blood, and you could actually see the dent in the scull. It had only happened a couple of minutes before we saw him, as the police, ambos etc were only just arriving.
I have no idea how it happened or why it happened, but it's bloody horrifying to just witness someone in a state like that. I can just imagine how bad that glassing was for all concerned (bar the offender of course).
