The bloke is a jet. Superstar batsmen who should potentially bat in the top 4 in ODIs and T20Is soon enough. Bowling is a bit iffy at this stage but is still young and plenty of time to improve. From South Belgrave, he has hit the fastest 50 in T20 history from just 19 balls for Victoria back in the days of the KFC T20 Big Bash back in 2010/11 I think it was. Spent last years BBL with the Renegades at Etihad Stadium but this year has jumped ship to the Stars from the MCG

Biggest overhype I've seen for a player.

Yes, even Naitanui. ;)

In that case could he be out number 6/7 in the Tests. Allowing Watson to stay at the top and spend more time focusing on Batting?

Also he seems to have over taken Mitch Marsh, as the next big all rounder.

I'd definitely hold him away from the test side for a while. Going down the path of throwing in a batsman who has played little FC cricket has been tried by us in the last few years and has ultimately failed other than Warner. Maxwell has only played six first class games so I'd send him back to state level once the limited overs format is done. His technique would get exposed if he were to come in to the test XI now OMO. He is very talented though so down the track I think he may be an option.

I'd be willing to bet a lot that Mitch Marsh will have a far superior Test career to Maxwell. He's 3 years Maxwell's junior and still growing into his lofty frame (important given he's a pace allrounder as opposed to a spinning one).

I doubt they are in the same 'pool' if you like, Mitch Marsh is a seam bowler/batsman, has hardly played for Aus and needs to have some solid time in the Shield without his body falling apart.

Maxwell certainly seems to have taken over from Steve Smith and I'm all for that.

Smith needs to spend some time away from the LO squads instead of getting yo-yoed in and out of them and ending up batting at 7/8 when he's not suited to that.

Seems silly to put him in the frontline spin role, from what I have seen of him he is more a quick off spinner which ain't going to get him far in the long form of the game. His batting on the other hand looks very handy, if we can sort out our top 5 + keeper then there could be a spot for him.

The way he played Ajmal recently was astounding. Plenty of ability, one to watch.

I really rate him, seems to make a lot of fifties, just needs to start turning them into a few more big scores and he'll be playing test cricket. His bowling has room for improvement but anyone that thinks he just bowls darts obviously doesn't watch him a lot, his bowling has a lot of potential.
