Glenn Maxwell and his future

Well that's the end of poor Aaron Hardie's career.

It was good while it lasted.

100%. Within the last 6 months we've had:

What is Hardie actually decent at? Seems just a Jack Edwards type

The specialist fielder Hardie does something

Hardie is so useless

Can we not let Hardie look good please
He starts playing his heart out after this. You need to keep bagging him for him to keep his form up LPNo1!

He’s at least young. Give the bloke a go rather than a proven test failure in Marsh. Do I think Hardie is ready, no. However it’s better than the Marsh disaster we know is coming if there’s an injury

Head's last 7 innings includes a 89 and 101.Take them out and the other 5 innings 86 runs at an average of 17.20.This all against Pakistan. If you look at the ashes series he had a couple of match winning 100,s but a few failures there as well.Still not convinced Head has cemented his spot in the side and as for captain not at this stage.
Great point about Head bit why stop there?…. If you remove all of Bradmans centuries, he looks like a pretty average batsman.

The media do love maxi don't they like compared to other players he gets a lot of media love

haven't even heard handscomb name being brought up .....same situation for me good player of spin..

Not that I want handscomb being picked its just maxi gets all the attention
Get the impression that Handscomb - despite being frequently in the best 5 bats in the Shield and despite the fact that he has leadership ability - has pissed off someone who was in the setup at the time, and that person is still there. You've also got Travis Head and Steve Smith batting in his positions; Smith's who he is, and they see Head as someone who'll come good with his own leadership chops to boot.

I don't get why we absolutely refuse to tour somewhere like Sri Lanka or Bangladesh with him, though. There's not many who can top Jadeja/Ashwin on their home patch, and he performed as well as most Australians did over there when he toured.

It's a testament to Maxwell's numerous fanboys in the media that as we finally exit a 10-year era where silly, inconsistent batting was the national side's biggest weakness, people are still wanting to bring the country's silliest, most inconsistent bat back into the test side.

You only need to go back through this thread to see that when given the opportunity to bat with a bit of maturity and adjust his style to suit the situation (as batting at 5 or 6 in the Test side would require him to do) Maxwell has failed repeatedly.

There's no conspiracy against Handscomb, he was given a good go and wasn't much good.

Telling comparison between him and Khawaja - Ussie went away, worked on his technical and fitness issues and piled on the runs. Handscomb whined to the media and changed nothing about his approach.

100% agree with this, I remember when he was under the pump he openly refused to admit batting so back in the crease was a negative approach

Scoring some runs in county cricket which is good to see
Reading this I expected to see better results then 0, 27, 6 and 79 lol

If Maxwell was given the fraction of a go the Marsh brothers were and have been, that statement would be some what correct
