Glenn Maxwell and his future

Like when he blamed the openers that scored runs in BBL final, whilst he got out playing a bonehead shot in a middle order collapse resulting in one of the biggest choke jobs in the history of cricket.

So why do sides collapse when Maxwell goes out, perhaps the question should be asked about the guys batting below Maxwell. Is it get Maxwell out and game over. There are 11 players in a side and stop blaming Maxwell for bonehead shots and these shots are after 20 plus scores and do you mind a T20 game.

But according to M Hayden he threw away his wicket and sparked the collapse that nearly cost his team the game . No mention of the captain's pitiful performance and yet another ill-considered review.

Matthew Hayden may have been a strong performer for Australia, but he comes across as a clown.

He obviously dislikes Glenn Maxwell and criticizes him at every opportunity. He won't be happy until Maxwell
is gone and a Queenslander takes his place.

What can you really say about a person who talks about himself in the third person? He recently said whilst commentating,
"What would Haydos have done to that delivery?".

What a schmuck!

Maxwell was doing the blaming on 'teammates' that actually scored..

So people on here posting the same comments about Maxwell in the just completed T20 game against India after he has made 50 plus and blamed for a batting collapse,do you mind. The biggest problem with those openers in that Big Bash game was they should have scored quicker in the later overs after a great start.

Would rather an honest opinion that is controversial as opposed to some pleb who will agree with anything as long as it benefits them personally.

Very happy for Maxy to bowl over the doubters for a strike,he made a big fifty on a very hard pitch to make runs on in the first match but got the team into a very winnable position,it was the batsmen who came in after him who nearly stuffed it up except for Cummins and Richo.

Couldn’t be more rapt for the bloke getting a century in the second match and sticking it up em!

Well played champ.

Just give him the chance to play test cricket again as I think he will do well.I suppose his season in county cricket will be the decider.

He got a hundred that's what the selectors want :)

Fantastic effort by Maxwell....one of the great t20 innings of all time

Take this form into the ODI's

Opportunity to come up the order is there.....reckon 5 is the perfect spot for him and use him as a floater if we are 1/100 going well

Once again a fantastic knock by one of the worlds best t20 batsmen

Well done

Thing about Maxy is these idiots need to see him for what he is and approach him differently and with an open mind. Don’t hold your breath though because they are neither capable nor interested in doing so. If you just let him play his talent and commitment is going to net you plenty of gains, you just have to be prepared for the failures in amongst them.
But so what? Whilst his failures are highlighted far more than the many failures of others due to his enormous scope and penchant for doing something reckless, it’s time they recognized that on the flip side he has far more upside for the team than those others when he gets in, which he often does.
He’s never going to be your classical grinding innings player, (but can bat like that if needed mind you). But to have him bat like that removes what sets him apart, and that’s the frustrating thing about the selectors. Accept his faults and shortcomings and gain his rare abilities for the team.
On the political side of things though Maxy does have one thing going heavily against him. Like others before him treated similarly he is not a “yes” man.
That would not please the like of Langer or Hayden.

He's more of a yes man than I would be . He has bitten his tongue on many occasions.

On the other hand he has going for him a wide popularity - most (not all) commentators, teammates, and cricket fans. The sub-continent LOVES him. He brings in the fans, more than most other players. CA, are you watching?
