Had an enjoyable day at the NRL game at Stade de Oz today - a Roosters-supporting friend who couldn't make it to the game offered me her ticket; so being the sports junkie I am, off to the game I went.
It was bloody hot out there today - it must have been well over 30 degrees. Not much fun for the players, and I'm sure it kept the crowd number down - the official crowd was around 17,000 but had it not been so hot they would have been expecting more.
At half time it looked like a boilover was in the air, with the Roosters looking flat and Souths running away to a shock 18-6 lead. But within minutes of the restart Ryan Cross went over and from there on it was a procession of one-sided rugby league until the Roosters players knocked off a few seconds before the final siren allowing Souths to score an uncontested consolation try.
I didn't see the Morely incident, and didn't even notice that Ben Walker wasn't out there - although Souths looked lost without him. But having seen some highlights on telly, it doesn't look good for Morely, especially with his record. I think he'll be out for a few weeks.
An enjoyable day, although the heat was shocking.
And, for those who have seen my waffle on the A-League, basketball and other boards, I had my digital camera at the game today as well; and here's a selection of my pics. Enjoy!!!
