If you all want to see a great movie, go and see "The Dish", the latest installment from the boys and girls at Working Dog.
If you liked "The Castle", then you will all love "The Dish". I heard Santo Cilauro say that this movie was the one they really wanted to make, and that the Caslte was really a test run.
"The Dish" had got that typical Aussie humour that we all love. It is so funny and ironic that the 600 million people who were witnesing the moon landing, were being beamed their pictures due to a telescope out in the middle of a shepp paddock in Parkes N.S.W. I don't think many people knew that Australia was the location for the telescope, which was needed for the times when the Northern Hemispshere was out of line with Apollo 11. When the Southern Hemisphere was pointed towards the moon, it was down tho the boys at Parkes to beam the pictures.
Since nobody really knew of Australias involvement in the moon landing, it is quite appropriate that the story be told. Go and see it. I loved it.
The American audiences will LOVE this movie. I can just imagine it being a smash hit in the States (a la Crocodile Dundee). They will love the Aussie humour. The fact that it's about an avent largely perpetrated by Americans, will make them appreciate the movie even more.
Tat was one of my primary feelings upon leaving the movie theatre - taht the Yanks would love this movie.
