I have seen us cop enough deserved 3-0 beatings over the years (Wimbledon at home a couple of seasons ago springs to mind readily) but I have never seen us cop such an undeserved 3-0 beating. I felt we matched it quite well with Man Utd for large periods of the game and we were going quite nicely until that red in disguise Mike Read decided to make it nigh on impossible for us. Penalty for sure, but a send off? No way! Taylor came out to shut down the angle for the shot, there was no intent whatsoever to bring Scholes down at all. It was a yellow card at most. That totally ruined our game and from there it was just a matter of damage limitation. The 2 other goals I was filthy with because to give players like Scholes & Giggs that much room at OT whether you're down to 10 men or not is ridiculous. 3-0 looked particularly harsh when a 1-0 defeat on balance would've been a fairer indication. Still, there were enough positives out of our performance to give me plenty of confidence that we will stay up this season.

Sorry, but the sending off was completely justified.

He missed the ball, brought down Scholes. Last man, and the attacker denied a goalscoring opporunity = red.

Yeah, Nolan you sound bitter to me:D

Not being byist but i think it warranted a red card, he was the last man back and did commit a foul

Mundine you cant justify anything you said when you reckon Wolves will finish 15th.

FTR Birmingham was ok last night and when they had 11 on the pitch Man Utd looked like they were having quite a bit of trouble creating too many clear cut chances.

Upson was brilliant i thought, infact ill go as far as saying that I think he is just as good as Rio who i think is an overrated defender Who is always exposed when Man Utd play quality opposition Real Madrid last year comes to mind.

Anyway Nolan 2 weeks, after beating the Loan Kings tonight we will be perfectly positioned to overtake the Small Heath at St. Andrews (oh i can see it now). I hope Robbie Savage is fit again coz that will make the victory all the more sweeter.
'whooaaah aston villa graverly hill riviera, holtenders live forever, the sun never sets on Aston Villa.

On Robbie Savage i really enjoy his articles in 442 magazine, just went and bought the Sept issue from the shops. His description of Martin O Neill's angry side was priceless. But seriously who cries after drawing 2-2 at OT???

as for the game in 2 weeks villa vs brum

um aston villa will win about 3-0 i asume , with brum fans very dissapointed after ANOTHER loss

Standing atop the local bridge thinking,
'Is it all worth it??? I mean Aston Villa is just up the road.'

Bitter? Me? Never!:p I wasn't disappointed with how we played last night, just hacked off with the sending off. Couldn't complain about the other 2 goals, due to our slack marking and we were deservedly punished. The only thing is usually we deserve our 3-0 beatings but last night was one of the few times when we didn't and the shock of that has upset me a tad!:D I thought Matty Upson and 'King' Kenny Cunningham both played really well last night. I think we would be far more effective in attack if we had Dunn in the middle with Clemence & move Savage to the right. The Forss and Duga just need a bit more time together I think, but they're getting there. Looking forward to the derby, I get the feeling that the Hillbillies are assuming that victory will be theirs this time (just like they did last season ...) and to be honest that's just the way we like it ...;)

Fair enough, although Scholes was doing enough to suggest that 2-0 would have also been an expected result. 3-0 was harsh.

Birmingham were defending well enough to keep us locked up. But apart from a very good opening five minutes in the second half, Tim Howard had very little to do.

Still, there were enough positives out of our performance to give me plenty of confidence that we will stay up this season.
If you can create chances, you'll stay up very comfortably. Very impressed with Birmingham's defence. They were very well organised and ran hard. It was only towards the end when their legs started to tire that we were able to get the open spaces that resulted in the Giggs goal.
