Thank you. Seems like a dangerous place to ride a bike with all the traffic and corners.

I get so pissed off at cyclists. Plenty of times I've driven on a highway, doing 100km/h and come around a corner where I have to slam on the brakes because of a cyclist on the road, with a semi or other vehicles coming the other way. I can't think of anything more dangerous than to ride a bike ON the road and holding up traffic.
One day I was coming down a hill, around a corner, with a fair bit of weight on the ute, and had to get off the road doing a high speed because of a semi on the wrong side of the road due to a ****ing cyclist on the road. Seriously **** off and ride your bike in a safer place for everyone.

try being a pedestrian in the city or inner suburbs, nearly get taken out alighting from trams, bikes that cant be arsed waiting for a green light and short cut through pedestrians then abuse them for being in the way, bikes dangerously riding tram tracks in the cbd, etc.
As stated he was killed in the rides up the alps. His team which were built to assist him were quite average, at times they didn't protect him enough. He was all alone for virtually the last 4 stages.
Why didn't they try to grab Stuart O'Grady I have no idea. He would have been awesome working in tandem with Cadel.
Ninty, that is a terrible comment to make. Whilst I do agree that bike riders sometimes cause accidents, however you'd have to agree that trucks and cars cause their own accidents enough too.
Well there is stupid car and truck drivers too! Let's not limit bike riders to on road stupidity here.
The discussion centred around Ninty nearly getting driven off the road because a truck was overtaking a bike rider on a corner or hill. Now the point is, the bike rider was observing the rules, yet the truck wasn't, or the truck didn't allow for others on the road.
Yet we blame the bike rider? It purely is the ridiculous mindset of all drivers out there. They are in so much of a rush that they cannot wait 10 seconds to get around a bike rider.
I had this idiot of an old lady drive around me today, there was no one else on the road, I was on the far left of the road, yet she had to go around me and beep her horn. What an absolute tool.
Remember pedestrians and bike riders have the right to be on the road. There is more car/truck accidents from mere stupidity than bikes causing accidents. Mainly due to speeding and the rush to get somewhere without caring for other road users. Similarly there is enough pedestrians and bike riders killed every year by car drivers, is that acceptable? I think not. Human life is worth more than just waiting 10 or 15 seconds to drive around.
It is that simple, yet some cannot understand that and think they 'own' the road.
i was merely commenting on the mindset of some cyclists, in my own personal exeprience i have been more threatened by bike stupidity than car/truck/motor bike stupidity.
maybe coz bikes dont answer to any rules, pedestrians get fined for jaywalking, cars get fined for speeding/running red lights, bikes get fined for....
How is it the trucks fault? It's the cyclists fault for making the situation dangerous, how could the truck know that there was a cyclist there whilst coming around the corner? He can't just slow down instantly, I would've done the same if I was him...
Riding on the wrong side of the road?
No Helmet?
Aren't they rules?
How many people have been killed by a bike? Probably Zero.
How many people have been killed by a car and or truck? A shitload.
except that poor ole guy in melbourne that died from some sunday cyclists thinking they are on the tour de france and can stop for nothing.
i see cyclists without helmets, riding on the wrong side of the road, not stopping at red lights, not waiting for people to alight from trams but not once i have seen a reprimand.
sorry german, its just something that gets on my goat. i have nearly been hit by cyclists not obeying red lights and powering through pedestrian crossings than an impatient car running a red light.
I'm so tired but just one more night to stay up late to see him finish the tour. GO CADEL!!!As stated he was killed in the rides up the alps. His team which were built to assist him were quite average, at times they didn't protect him enough. He was all alone for virtually the last 4 stages.

Weren't they talking about getting a team together with all the Aussie cyclists in it, but it didn't get off the ground as they couldn't get the financial backing for it?

Try being a pedestrian or bike rider in Sydney trying to cross a road. At my old place it took me 5 mins just to drive out of my street of a morning.![]()
