Go Lounge - Interesting cafe idea.

A board games cafe.

Will it work, charging for access rather than just having the games for people to play while drinking and eating?

Would it be better to have a free casual area, then a paid advanced area for people playing games of two+ hours?

Someone's time is up and they are just about to finish a game, do you hassle them for more cash and grab the board off the table is they just want to play another 15 minutes?

I like the idea and had thought that it might be a good venue for a Monkeycon style event but would need to visit first. I think the payment model is fine especially when you consider venue prices around the traps. We are living in smaller homes and have fewer open public spaces (specially indoor ones) so it is appealling to go somewhere and pay a small price to set up for a few hours and play.

I've heard of one in Adelaide.. lemme look it up...

Here it is - aptly named as well.

I've only played 4 of the 8 recommendations..... boooo me.

Brother and law and I been talking of checking it out. If we do I'll post back how it was.
Have been to it once (on the other side of town from me), it's a good night out. Food is good (if a little pricey to cover the low turnover of people). If you have a few friends who board game it's worth going to, to try out some new games.

Go Lounge in Brisbane has shut down.

From what I heard (via someone who looked at investing) it was earning enough for the owner to make a wage but not to be a big success with growth prospects.

Site says:
GO LOUNGE WAS BRISBANE'S FIRST BOARD GAME CAFE. NOW CLOSED AND GAMES HAVE BEEN PASSED ONTO CONEXIO BOARD GAME CAFE - FIND THEM ON FACEBOOK!
