I just went and had a look at Port Adelaide this year. They have only kicked below 60% on three occasions.
I feared you would say ninthThis season the AFL average is 52.44%.
We are slightly above average and come in 8th at 52.96

Interesting thread and perhaps the Holy Grail of Aussie Rules.
IMO, practicing goal kicking more is part of it, but only a small part.
Part is not choking on game day.
But maybe the biggest part is having your shots from an easy spot. I can't be arsed checking it out now, but I'd like to know what Cameron Mooney went at during 2009 or so, when the Cats basically played rugby and ran the ball to the goal square before having a shot.
I've heard that Port's training regime involves running to fatigue first, then doing skills stuff. Good to practice goal kicking under that game situation of being puffed.
