I still don't get how this could be possible.

It went back over the post after it completely crossed the line?

I'm not drawing pictures, but. It is a parallax error issue.


Things look different from different angles. So lynch kicked the ball from a very tight angle. The vision from almost behind him showed the ball passing the goal post about 3/4 of the way up on the inside (might have touched, don't know). The ball then continued going up and went past the height of the post.

From the angle of the TV vision, further out, the ball will pass over the top of the post because the ball is behind the goal line.

Think of when you looking at an old clock with hands. From the side the time looks different than when you look at it straight on.

In our old car my wife was always telling me off for driving fast. Then I'd get her to bring her head over to my shoulder and 10kph came off the speedo. The indicator sat out from the numbers, and so from a different angle it showed a different result.

Same thing with the vision. The camera angle was way off the angle of the shot. So that means if you see the ball directly above the post it never went there. It physically cannot do it.
