They didn't review it properly, The Crow's player admitted it hit the post, which cost Port finals. Interesting the immense bias and selective outrage from Crows supporters.

As I said, Port should be upset. I believe it hit the post. I could see a deviation but the useless umpires couldn't. That's kind of the point, umpires are s**t. None the less, at least they reviewed it.

Media also just playing to their main audience.

When the two main radio stations plus TV broadcaster is saturated with current and past Crows players and officials, outwardly bagging Port Adelaide and pandering to the Crows week in week out then this reaction is a natural event.

Ah, so 1 set of AFL officials not doing their job properly for the Crows >>>>>>>>> 2 sets of AFL officials not doing their job properly for the Power.

Got it.

Feel free to react however you would like to my post. I understand why you're being like this though, I forgive you.

Even though The AFL messed up here, it's interesting seeing the antics of Crows fans on this. I've seen them blame Sydney instead of the goal umpire, and act like there wasn't over a minute left to go. Not to mention how quiet they are over the many times the umpires favoured The Crows throughout the years into getting wins.
Feel free to quote these posts rather than make BS generalisations as most Crows fans have not been blaming Sydney... or are you here to seek attention when many of us are upset that this could occur & ruin any finals chances.

I have made it clear I want the system fixed.

uh do you even know who Cos Cardone is and the pull his has in the national media?

look fair enough I don't live in Adelaide anymore, but from my perspective in Melbourne, Port Adelaide get a way way way better run in the media than the Crows so you can put the tiny violin back in its case x

You should have heard him after the game, taking calls from listeners. He was calling the AFL cheats and asking that they put more satellites into space to allow vision to be clearer. South Australia hits different.
Sounds like an absolute legend to me.
Give me Rowey over all the sterilized Victorian slop like Whateley every day of the week.

You can't overturn the result with that much time left, Crows making finals would be unlikely anyway, not to mention shooting themselves in the foot in the last with their inaccuracy. Feel like this sort of thing has happened a couple times in recent weeks and Crows fans just sooked the most excessively (as tough as that footage of a denied goal is to swallow).

Crows have been decent this year (besides the Bulldogs at Eureka, they were in every game), but worth noting they only spent one week above 7th (Rnd 6), and haven't been in the eight since Rnd 16. They lost a lot of close games recently. Running out games well but a winning edge in thrillers will come with experience.

Everything you said in bold is completely irrelevant. It doesn't actually matter what kind of season the Crows had, whether they only played one decent quarter or shot themselves in the foot with inaccuracy.

All that matters is the umpiring decision in question which was manifestly incorrect and cost Adelaide the game and handed it to Sydney. That it also cost Adelaide a potential finals spot only compounds the gravity of the error. Your point about the Crows being 'unlikely to make finals' is wrong as well, as they would be sitting in the 8 with that win with only WCE to play. Almost a certainty to play finals in fact.

To your initial point - "you can't overturn a result with that much time left" - but why can an official call a clear goal a point and not provide the opposing team any opportunity to review? For an error of this gravity - the match should should actually be replayed. Sydney would hardly have grounds to oppose that, as if they correct decision was made they would have more than likely lost.

We will wait forever for examples of this.

It obviously might be irrelevant to the umpiring decision itself, but it gives some grounding perspective to the supposed broader consequences. Not an either/or thing, you can consider both where appropriate, and how one exacerbates the other.

I don’t agree with overturning that call post game or replaying. If that is a lead-changing goal which goes back to the centre square it (in practice anyway) changes how both teams approach that last minute. Whilst I wanted sirengate to be overturned, I don’t think this case meets that level of intervention, it’s just unfortunate requiring some improvement in these areas and mitigating risk in future.

Everyone ignoring the clear missed free on notorious deadeye Ryan Clarke with 8 seconds left. Swans would have won anyway.

Being a clearly wrong decision is one thing, but the inexplicable & unforgivable thing is that no check was made. If we have someone sitting in a box with a variety of TV screens, surely, they should look at all goals as a matter of course. If something is questionable, they should be able to contact umpires & say an urgent review needs to be made.
Is that so hard?
The umpire in question needs an urgent trip to specsavers & to be asked why the hell he didn't check it.

why couldn't an official contact the umpire and call a goal after the event, regardless that time had elapsed. they did exactly that for an interchange breech agaiinst north which meant the free (and fifty) was paid in front of goal by the time play was stopped.
Because there's a rule written for the interchange infringement

There's no such ruling for reviewing points

If you're arguing for it to be added, ok. But they can't just make that s**t up as they go during the game

This is wrong. They’d be in 9th on 44 points right now, GWS would be 8th on 48. So the Crows would still need to beat the Eagles AND would require GWS to lose to Carlton next week. Far from an almost-certainty despite both those outcomes being favourites.

I have a difference of opinion with other parts of your post (replaying the game for example would set a terrible precedent that we’re just going to replay any game where an incorrect decision with time left on the clock may/may not have ended up costing a team a win), but the part I’ve quoted isn’t a difference of opinion it’s simply factually incorrect.

Would also require Sydney to beat Melbourne

Round 24 is going to be interesting for all the wrong reasons

The point is you don't need to stop the games for the ARC to review every decision, as they can do so whilst play goes on. You just stop play & bring the game back for any howlers, which would be infrequently.
Every decision by the goal umpire or in general?
