Re: Cool Sim Site
Well with things so quiet for a change, and not much doing elsewhere, this is a good time to remind everyone to keep an eye out for the AE Tipping Comp which Woodson runs annually.
Last year, there were about 30 people involved. There were three aspects to it.
1) The straight out tipping comp, which was run on a confidence points system thru the Yaoo Sports website. Basically, with about 16 games played per week, you'd tip who you think will win a game and assign how confident you are of that win. 16 would be very confident and 1 would be very unconfident. So at the end of a week of games, you tally up how many confidence points you got right and that's how the leaderboard works. Everyone put in like $25 to join, so first and second place were given big prizemoney. Woodson is looking at getting even more people involved this year, so the prizemoney will be HUGE. $25 is nothing!
2) A 3xKO comp run manually thru BigFooty. This one was my personal favorite. What happens is every week you get to pick 3 winning teams that, again, you feel confident of winning. If you get one wrong, you lose a life. So the next week have to pick 2 teams. Get one wrong again, you lose another life. The last person standing at the end wins the prizemoney. The catch with this game is that you cannot pick the same team two weeks in a row. So it gets very interesting as you try to find those "sure-fire" winning teams when you've already used your Patriots or Cowboys etc selection the week before. I cant remember how the prizemoney worked, but there was a percentage of the AE Comp that was assigned to the winner of the 3xKO comp.
3) The AE Syndicate. This one is not a comp at all. It's voluntary, for those who want to gamble on the football. What we do is have a syndicate of however many people, and we all analyze the bets going around for that week, looking for value bets, and thru Woodson's TAB contacts etc, we use a portion of the pool of money per week to make bets. Each person gets a turn basically as well as collaborative consensus bets. This Syndicate is a separate involuntary payment to the AE/3xKO one. The aim of the syndicate is to grow the pool of money into big winnings and share it around evenly at the end of the season. So everyone puts in roughly $20, if we get 10 people, that's $200 pool used in lots of about $20 per week (roughly), and there'll be wins along the way that will immediately take our pool to like $1,000 or more. Often a winning bet can net anything from $100 to $1,000, depending on the value of the bet.
So, just a heads up from me here to all, to keep your eyes peeled for that this season. Get familiar with the term AE and what it basically means --- Woodson running tipping comps, and gambling syndicates. He's got years of experience at running these things and has many contacts and avenues.
