Bernberough stays in the right teir. Pinker Pinker added to the horses that belong in saturday mares class teir, Rubiton is a hard one to rate, put it in teir 3 along with Vo Rogue

Black Caviar belongs on teir her own teir behind Phar Lap.
CAnnot come at Makybe Diva so high. she just wasnt the best of her time in the world despite winning 3 cups.
Well you couldnt say Kingston Town, Tulloch, Bernborough etc were the best in the world at that time either but this is Australian horses. She won 3 Melbourne Cup's and a Cox Plate - that's top echelon no matter how you look at it

she won 3 Melbourne Cups because she got weighted to win. also compressed weights these days makes it more of a quality handicap. Phar LAp might have carried 60, but the bottom weight was 40 kgs
and i know if the horses didnt go overseas they cannot prove they were the best in the world. but she did, and was found wanting. Bernborough i would bet was the best. he raced in Shannons era, Shannon went overseas and proved himself there and Bernberough was a better horse,
Have you ever read Bernboroughs history? fascinating.. got pulled up at Toowoomba many times at the start of his career cos his owner was a crook! so many shennanigans in those days

Carbine not getting the attention he deserved. Was the best we'd ever produced before his grandson Phar Lap came along, and after racing became a Goliath as a sire, his influence is still seen today.

Manikato won 5 william reids and 4 Orr stakes, should we put him in teir 1 too? I will make a prediction, some other horse will win 3 Melbourne cups in the next 15 years as well, because it is a specialist race for the same type of horses now

i'm a big fan of dominant performances displaying ability rather than consistency. consistency is great but ultimately comes down to opposition and injuries.
the true champs smashed another top line animal or truly the best in the world at the time. i think most of the ones i voted for did that and i didn't include Makybe.
