He loves Big Nick as our greatest presence. Loved Johnny James too. And Bruce Doull.

But reckons Jezza was clearly the best ever Carlton player.

Also rates John Coleman as clearly the best player he has ever seen.

Really about port? I think they've had some amazing players its just most of their best players since afl entry haven't been very likeable. Primus, The Chad or Tredders for me.

Yeah strange comment presumably from someone who has only really watched the last couple of years or who hasn't watched Port a lot.

Just looking at our AFL days. Up until recently our problem was never top end talent with those you mention plus the likes of Wanganeen, Francou (underrated despite being a Brownlow runner up), Peter Burgoyne and Lade.

That's a list i could definitely get on board, with apologies to Andrew McLeod.

Someone mentioned Wanganeen for Port - he would be my choice as the best player the Power have ever had. Tredrea is good without being elite (sans a couple of seasons) - Wanganeen was absolutely elite for mine.

I agree with the surprise lack of Jonathon Brown too. I almost choose him because Brisbane had such a gun midfield the probably win those grand finals without Voss. they don't win the second two without Brown i don't think.

Matera, Kemp, McKenna and Jakovich are HoF members from that era, very difficult to choose between them. And then you add the modern greats in Cousins and Judd, and you've got 6 realistic options for our best ever player.

Personally I reckon Judd was short a couple of seasons at WC to be considered as one of their GOATs. My pick would be Jakovich, but any of Kemp, Cousins, Matera could easily be included.

Probably by most people i guess. He'll probably be a 10 year Captain, 200 game, 4 or 5 time B&F winning, Brownlow Medallist Carlton player by the time he finishes.

A champion at 2 clubs though. He had a breath taking 5 years at WC.

There 2 "whole career" type awards were..

"Class of the Century" was won by Royce Hart.
"Strong and the Bold" was Jack Dyer.


Which was GOAT is probably a matter of what you attributes you rate higher.

For me, I'd give it to Hart.
