Ever since he drilled that stab kick into the middle of the Dockers cheer squad from point blank I think its fair for Freo fans to call him all sorts of names.

More to the point, what is it with Docker supporters being so eager to buy in players in order to win? A curosry glance through the past few months of posts sees mass support for drafting in the likes of Davis, Dick, Clark, dumshit Fevola, even Josh Hill's cause was championed. Now its Goddard. Thank christ for our recruiting staff.

I'd prefer to see us grow our own talent thanks.

No disrespect intended as some of those guys gave good service to Freo, but no-one on that list can be even remotely compared to Goddard who is presently in his prime. A couple of those guys (ie Johnson) were journeymen.

Closest in terms of contemporary status amongst the AFL elite is Tony Modra. Modra's last season at Adelaide (albeit on return from serious knee injury) amounted to 17 or 18 goals in 8 or 9 games. A shift here was the only way he could stay on the big bucks.

Anyhow just because a Top 10 player hasn't moved to the west previously doesn't mean it can't happen now.......especially if Freo moves up the ladder and perform like a genuine contender.

Be great if it happens as sometimes I think the focus on ex WAers as recruiting targets is immature. It's a national comp! To think we drove up Mitch Clark's asking salary to a reported $800,000 is mind-boggling.

Yeah I don't think you are wrong there, but not a lot of top 10 players would have moved to any club historically, and if they are changing states typically it would be for a significant negative reason (Sideshow Bob, Lockett, Carey, Cousins).
