According to a player chat on saints.com.au b. goddard now weighs in at 98.5kg
Seems that comparisons between he and wells may have to end as they will be totally different players

For his sake, i hope he improves and becomes a small force in the Saints team, because right now Wellsy is looking behind and seeing alot of daylight...

are they grooming him to play as kpp???

seriously thats friggen heavy ... setanta o'halpin is massive at 198cm and 100kg if goddard is 189cm and 98kg thats way too heavy imo.

He would be looking to drop a fair bit of that going into the season with more aerobic activity.

What role would would GT be grooming him for if they have gotten him to improve his strength to that degree?

Probably a crash and bash player to split the packs like hamill who is 184cm and 94kg

goddard will be just as good as Wells.

however, 98.5kgs is a rather large unit. i thought he was only 188cm? if true that makes him bigger than pavlich (proportionatly) because the Pavlova is 192 and 100kgs.

sortof but not really because if you look at it, shorter players will generally have heavier height/weight ratios I think

Maybe they need somebody to sit at the other end of the interchange bench from Grant Thomas

I dunno why you're panicking about Goddard not being Wells, he was a gift anyway. Compare him to Salopek if you like and thank Carlton.

The only comparison Goddard and Wells have is they went top two. Both different sorts of players.

Will be interesting to see how St Kilda use Goddard this season, could we see him as a key position defender at some point? Maybe in a Colbert sort of role as a third tall, floating defender, supporting Penny and Maguire (sort of like Brett Voss does).
