Tough, hard as nails, honest.

If Essendon are serious about rebuilding for their future, they will make Zaharakis captain and for good. He's about the only one from that period who has any integrity left. Plus, I like him.
The funny thing is, I agree with this.
He talks well, and he's a good bloke.
Believe it or not, I'd consider Zach Merrett too, speaks so well, is already a leader around the club.
Baguley is another.

Goddard just isn't a very good leader. He is an individual and a selfish footballer.
As far as we know he refused the treatment, as he was allegedly afraid of them. Was Zahahaharakis one of the 2 who refused to do it? or just refused to sign the no fault clause?

Goddard will be captain. Pretty good chance for him to sway peoples opinions on his playing/leadership style. He's the obvious (and only) choice you'd imagine.
Watson will retire. Heppell will request to leave.Split the season in 4 and let Goddard, Baguley, Zaharakis and Daniher each have a go at it.
It's going to be a long year for Essendon and either Watson or Heppell will be captain next year so there's no point putting the weight of captaincy on one player.

Heppell won't has club next captain in his contract.
