yeah fine, benefit of the doubt, he knew nothing before he went, but then why the whole Stockholm syndrome thing, becoming chief of the dopers (EFC) rah-rah squad?

He had a chance to stand up with a clear message about being responsible for what goes in your body.
 
Goddard - goes to BIG CLUB Essendon, finds himself in utter world of shite, will se out his career captaining a rabble that gets smashed every week.

Dal Santo - makes relatively brave call, goes to MINNOW North, plays finals, gets industry best standard treatment for a serious injury and comes back as a good as new, has genuine chance to end storied career with a flag.

Feeling sorry for him would be like feeling sorry for Buddy missing out on the two flags won since his departure. Also, whether he is or not, Goddard looks like he's constantly scoffing down sour grapes.

I do have sympathy for guys like Zaharakis though.

yes, because that's a shit storm to walk into. which makes me question his leadership, knowing whats above board and whats wrong.

Poetic licence much?

Essendon (who hadnt won a final in ten years) finished 11th the year before Goddard joined them
North (thereabouts a lot) finished 10th the year before Dal Santo joined them

Bottom line they both left StKilda to join mid table clubs. Its merely stating the obvious that Dal landed at a better place than Goddard.

Yes, but BJ was going to be the icing on the cake of the DREAM TEAM rebuild at Hird/THompson Bomberland blah blah blah.

Dal took a punt because he was impressed by our culture (and cash).

The follow on has been huge too. Dal's speaking very highly of us no doubt had a massive influence on Waite and Higgins coming over.

But (even more) seriously, he knew the Saints needed an extra carrot against the better dollars and length of contract offers elsewhere.
