Terrible news about Goddard tonight. Hopefully he'll be right for round 1 next year, should the ACL be the confirmed injury over the next couple of days.

I hate to say it, but Goddard will not be a huge loss. His body language during a game is terrible, he gets fired up, but he often takes it out on his teammates and the umps. Great player, but needs to sort out his attitude.

Sorry if I offend any supporters

Was visibly upset after the game, with most, if not all, of the players coming up to him after the game, and in the rooms.

Good luck to him, and I hope he makes a full recovery.

Crazyman - seriously ?

All Saints fans who actually go to games will confirm how important he has been to the team this year.

He's taken the role of 'quarter back' for the Saints, and if you've seen the way we play, you'll know how important he has been.

Got himself AFL sized as well, which I think has been a major reason for his confidence 'leap'.

The Saints will miss him - no doubt.

Yep it sucks heaps, hes a great/very important player. He can defend big forwards when required whilst gettin the ball many times to thump it to our players. His disposal efficiency is awesome. I went to the game tonight and as soon as he got hit to the ground u culd see how disappointed he was. He punched the ground becoz he hates not playing. Hope he recovers well:thumbsu:

It is terribly unfortunate that Brendan has ruptured his ACL.

Apart from the significant pain and discomfort over time, this injury requires reconstructive surgery and almost 12 months of recovery and rehabilitation.

The commitment behind the scenes to regain the level of fitness required for AFL is enormous.

I only hope that everything goes as smoothly as possible for him and that he finds support from the right people at the right times to make this process a relatively uneventful and easy enough to cope with.

Brendan has been a vital cog in the St Kilda machine. He can not be replaced.
Sure, someone will take his spot for the rest of the year but no-one can replace what he does for our team. A foreign poster suggested he will not be a huge loss. This guy is an ignorant fool or a troll.
I considered banning him, but realised that you cannot go around banning posters for their obvious lack of intelligence. Just accept that life has already dealt him a far worse punishment than I could ever impose on him.

I'm allowed to have an opinion
Absolutely mate - thats what the forum is all about.

BUT......

You've clearly formed your opinion on Brendon Goddard's attitude after seeing one or two highlights from St Kilda games, and decided to post on a St Kilda forum, where most the the posters / readers are people who actually go to Saints games, and see the team dynamics, set plays, structure - and we see how much BJ's attitude has changed to make him the leader he now is.

So, please keep forming your own opinion, but just have a think about how you're going to sound before posting it.

:)

Terrible news. I've really enjoyed following his progress over the past few seasons (thanks to having him in my DT), especially his breakthrough season last year. All the best to him having a speedy recovery and returning fully fit at the start of next season :thumbsu:

As a nearly 27 year old man who wears a St Kilda jumper with 18 on the back, it was awful to see Goddard go down on Saturday night. Hopefully he can return by Round 1 next year and slowly get back to his best. Good Luck BJ.

what a joke! i feel for the sainters have for a while due to the unfortunate injuries. goddard has been an instrumental part of the STKFC and is one of the most versitile players around. he is dominant in defence and on ball and is consistant every game. my supercoach is wrecked now lol

hang in there benny ------- crazyman also look at players like tredra and tell me he hasnt lost it lol you will be eating your words when benny comes back.

As you can see, I am a "bigfooty newbie" so maybe I'm a little ignorant about how forums are supposed to work. Nevertheless, I have a problem with all of this threatened banning and blacklisting etc. I don't know why a guy should be accused of trolling for daring to say that he doesn't think Goddard will be a big loss. You can see from my earlier post how much I disagree with the statement but I always find that such statements bring out very enjoyable hearts-on-the-sleeves responses from Saints supporters.

Also, if you remember a couple of weeks back, we had Danielz (I think) claiming that the sky was falling in and the Saints were crap. I don't remember anyone calling him a troll, presumably because he was a Saints fan (sure, he copped it, but no one spoke about banning him, I'm pretty sure). So, if we are judging someone's opinion on the basis of the club they barrack for, frankly I find that puerile.

So if someone comes onto our board and says something stupid, can we just call him stupid and not threaten to ban him?

YOU ABSOLUTE TOOL.
Sorry to kill all Saint fans, but this injury will hurt Goddard more then you think.

He is mentally weak, this injury will probs be the end of his football career, dont get me wrong he will play again. But he will never play with the impact he had this year and last. We have seen the best of Bj, which is a shame.

If you doubt me on this, just wait and see. I cant tell you why i believe this, but i know it is truth.
