Goddard

Resorting to off-topic insults now?? Sad.

All that Watson's medal proves is that he's a quality player but a RUBBISH skipper. Why? His team won't follow him and he doesn't inspire them. He goes out there every week and puts in, while his team mates stand around with their hands on their wangs. This is more important than a medal umpires vote for... Get used to using a Brownlow medal to prop up your club, it's all you've got and all you're gonna have for a long, long time.

Why does Goddard coming to Essendon interest you so much?

Only Walker, Cloke and Riewoldt really hurt us this year. There is plenty more teams than Essendon who struggle to contain a key forward.
True, but purely from an outsider looking in, I would've thought a KPD would've been the first order of business this off-season?

Because the HUN is a trashy rag with lazy gutter journos working for them.

Yeah I agree with that, but I'm not so skeptical of the reported figure Dons offering because I've heard Saints only offering 475 a year and not reported 1.9 over 3 years.

I am just pointing out the risks in pinning your fortunes on a 28 year old.

You're right! We shouldnt try and improve our list. In fact we should delist Watson and Hurley, because, what would happen if they got injured.

By my logic, if you have to send your CHF to FB to cover a dominating power forward, you've got KPP problems.

I think you are going to find that with Daniher breaking into the side over the next 2 years, Hurley will become a dominant FB/CHB in years to come, with Carlisle his KPP partner. Do you still think we have KPP problems?

I prefer to think of it as a learning experience.

Hooker wasn't up to it - Hurley was.

The team's performance says otherwise. If he's such a great skipper, why can't he get his team up. Answer please?

Like I said, keep talking about these individual awards while your club continues to play like a bunch of pretenders.
ah patrick why dont you go back to dissecting girls?
leave the football talk to us grownups

FWIW he finished 4th in the Saints B&F this year, so couldn't have done too badly.

And Patty Bateman - he got a vote against the Cats in round 21. Keen to hear your thoughts as to how he played that night?

Hmmmm....

$475K seems way way way under what a player of his standing at your club should be paid. If so, it would mean that the figure of $475 is what they are offering him this time around which would be an increase on what he is current contract is worth which must be say ...... $400-425 per annum or thereabouts. Crazy numbers really and would make it so much easier for him to up & leave because of it.

Where has all the big money gone at the Saints then ? Kosi, Roo, Dal & Hayes alongside Goddard would be the big ticket items, the rest of them would be on pie & team money apart from maybe Milne who may get something better than the rest.

After his GF performances, they should of (if they hadn't already) upped his package as that is where you want players to deliver, on the big stage.

I reckon he is on much better cabbage than the very rubbery figures being bandied about by the HUN.

Very early to be calling it a mistake.

Look, he'll give some quality feed to your marking talls and he will take a good player as a minder, but I just don't think a half back flank is a priority for essendon.

He might improve you by 6-10 points as a side, but that is not going to catapult you in to the top 4.

No i wouldnt cause i dont know you and you wouldnt pay up anyway

I'm hurt.... you are welcome to check my history on the matter; I ALWAYS pay up.

Anyways I wasn't talking money.

I would've thought a KPD would be higher on the list of needs than an outside/half-back play maker?

Hurley potentially to play down back for longer periods of time and Carlisle another year of development - club probably thinks midfield is more of an issue.

LOL, you really think he will play on the HBF?
