Well summed up. Fact is every person to post in this thread would like to have Goddard on their teams list. All the bravado bs and trolling isn't fooling anyone.

Mods need to create a "serious discussion Footy board" because this board is no longer that. It's simply Bay13 in disguise.

Let's face it fellow Bombers, every troll on this board would love to have him added to their list. I know I'd hate to see him running around for Carlton or Hawthorn. This is exactly what free agency is all about, getting the best available players to the club of their choice at around the age of mid to late 20's. We have done exactly what we should do and what every other club would like to have done - got Goddard. Injury-free, he is an elite performer and every club will attempt to negate him because they know the danger he presents. If Essendon are to get serious about contending then we need to make the most of the new landscape in footy. He'd look very good in red and black.

How are we not investing in youth? We aren't offering up draft picks for him & he will take the list spot of a mid aged player like Prismal or Lonergan. We will also still draft at least 3-5 kids from the ND plus rookies as we have done every year.

You've gotta love the feigned concern the trolls are showing for Essendon's well being.:rolleyes:

Based on Clokes form against Essendon, all that means is he'll go from kicking 5 goals a game compared to his usual 7.

Why do all non Essendon supporters care. If he is so shit, old past it, paying overs and generally just not interested you should all be happy that we are getting him if it eventuates. Maybe deep down you are a little bit worried that our list is going to be quite capable of making finals next year.

The salary cap stuff was Herald Sun bullshit. In fact there was an article recently along the lines of 'now the Saints have freed up lots of cap space and will be very aggressive this trade period.'

The Herald Sun is a ridiculously shit, inaccurate, poor excuse for toilet paper and you should put about that much weighting in anything that it says.

I would have thought it was quite obvious, Saints are most likely coming up to a period where it will be hard to remain near the top. Very rarely are teams able to rebuild while staying up, and they aren't stupid. They realize Goddard will be either gone or well past it by the time they are challenging again (probably 3-4 years) so take the good pick, free up some cap space to try and attract someone more suitable to where the list currently is.
 
I am not particularly fussed about Goddard joining EFC.

I don't understand how this thread has got to 12 pages, when Goddard is average and EFC are below average.

Something is amiss !
