Exactly, someone like Godfrey who always works hard and puts his body on the line will be rewarded. Godfrey is one of the fittest blokes at the club, if not the fittest. He regularly wins the pre-season time trials every year.
The fittest player is not always necessarily better. A 1/4 M.Voss is 1000 times better the a fully fit Godfrey. Until u and daniher realise godfrey is of no use to the club we will not start winning, and that goes for nicholson as well.

Bag the likes of Godfrey all ya like but of a few things you can be certain... Hard work will always be rewarded at footy clubs. Coaches NEVER take things like age & looks into account when they pick an AFL side, every position must be earnt & handing blokes games coz they're "promising" is garbage.

Every TEAM needs balance & loading up on skillfull outside players will get you nowhere, we need the likes of Godfrey & McDonald to put their heads over it & feed the likes of Armstrong & Johnstone. Too many of our blokes are frontrunners who look great running one way, every team needs some mongrel & we were desperately short on that last week.

Godfrey deserves a go, especially when players like Heffernan continue to put in p-weak performances like last week.
The guy is full of heart and was topping our hardball gets until he was bizzarely dropped mid last season.
The Shev is right with players like Moloney out, other injured and others not showing the ticker *cough* Heffernan *cough* Godfrey deserves the run and could provide very useful in stopping someone like J.Bolton this week.

his skills are poor but we have plenty of flashy players in moloney, bruce, yze, green and johnstone
What is the point in having players who don't have any skills. Although they can run the ground when they kick it they turn it over.

he has the skill of being able to get the ball out of packs and he can be a good tagger.

aslong as he isnt trying to dodge several opponents and then bomb the ball with a perfect drop punt for goal from the boundary 50 metres out, we leave that sorta stuff to others

 Wat an absolute joke. How culd Godfrey possible be playing this week. He is an absolute dud, who 9/10 times can not hit a leading target. Daniher shoud give armstrong a game who is young, skilled and full of potential which must be used.
Godfrey is not a dud ! if he can keep Crawf quiet like he has for the two games that Simon played against use than he is good he can not help that for some reason when he was playing good football last year that they decided not to play him in the seniors so leave him be he is a good player if you don't want him send him to the hawks we will have him any day !

and for some one who knocked libber off his feet which was a feat and a half he's tough

i really think that Godfrey opitomises Melbourne Football Club. He is slow, can't hit a target, has no marking ability whatsoever and deserves to be playing for the Sandringham 2nds. Melbourne - get a real defender!!!

Firstly Godfrey is not a defender. Secondly it is a bit rich speaking about a guy who would be welcomed with open arms into the essendon 'midfield' given its current state, pace and skill wise. By the way - what does opitomises mean??

So you're saying we should have blind faith? Are you a religious person by any chance?

no but i am getting sick of people bagging their players ! i have had enough of hawks supporters doing it to holland
godfrey is still young , holland is nearing the end , it proberly doesn't help me that i have watched Simon grow up from 16yrs ago to what he is now and i like watching him play i do think he is a good player and saw that when he kept Crawf quiet .

just cause he might not get the ball much does not mean he is not working his butt off to help the team like he did on the weekend and i know he got a goal and was one of best on ground if i remember right for the weekend in past games if he got the ball quite often it resulted in you guys getting a goal i know he helped on the weekend get theses goals cause it was mentioned on the sports news that night .

it is not alway the big things that help the club , small things and unnoticed things done by members help too.

Getting the ball isn't the problem. It's use of the ball by foot and hand and thought process when under pressure. If he gets the ball I'm sure many other Melbourne supporters join me with our hearts in out mouths. Don't even get me started on kicking for goal.

All that aside. He's a good runner, comitted player, hard trier and is often kamakazi like in his attack on the ball.

Unfortunately although these qualities are admirable, there is no room for him in a fully fit side nor is there any room for him in the Demons future.

that sounds better than bagging a player it is constuctive critistism and i don't mind that as much it is way better than saying he is s*&t etc i don't have a prob than

good luck than hope he gets better at the things he is bad at for you

Exacly right. Saying a player isn't up to scratch for "X" reason is far better than just bagging them. Too much of this happens to too many players because it doesn't take much intelligence and obviously makes knuckleheads feel better about themselves.

Godders is a good hard, honest worker who is capable of doing a job on an opposing player but is VERY limited in his skills. Doesn't make or top 22 but is an able backup.

i personally dun bag my teams players outside of an occasional joke or so.

saying 'godfrey has poor kicking skills' is just pointing out an opinion, it aint baggin him.

also someone sayin 'godfrey is a ******** kick of the footy' is still really just an opinion about his skills but just bein a tad harsher :p

at this elite level u can expect critisism of players to come left right and centre from all sources

No probs with a bit of a joke about a player or a critism of them so long as there is a resaon for it. Just sick of hearing "X is the worst player to ever play the game" or just plain "X is ****". No thought or logic put to it, just people making noise.

FWIW, I also thought Godfrey a bit unlucky to be dropped.

i think he play pretty good , i watched the game again as i had recorded it and he did hit his targets in this game anyway , he did miss a goal at one stage cause of the angle but that could happen to any player ,great he kicked another goal too .

i am glad it was a good game , i do think your team kept our team on their feet and made them work for it , best of luck for next week i hope you win [who are you playing anyway ?] by heaps i hope you guys don't see me as a nasty troll thou cause i am not :)

best of luck anyway
