 Wat an absolute joke. How culd Godfrey possible be playing this week. He is an absolute dud, who 9/10 times can not hit a leading target. Daniher shoud give armstrong a game who is young, skilled and full of potential which must be used.

I wouldn't have named Godfrey but it's not the end of the world.

Godfrey will be out there the cut down the influence of someone like Luke Ball or Nick Dal Santo.

I'm not a fan of Godders but I respect his work ethic and dedication.

Occurse, he puts his body on the line, i'll give him that. But there must be other players in consideration b4 him. e.g. Armstrong, P.Johnson, etc.

I rate Holland 10 times better than Godfrey.

Tell me how many times he hits the target against St.Kilda with his kicks.

Godfrey, Armstrong and Motlop have shown form in the VFL which warrants a game for us this weekend.

Out of those Godders is the only one able to shut down one ofthe Saints gun midfielders.

As much as I'd love to see Arma get a game I believe he has to be harder at the footy.

For the record, Paul Johnson is nowhere near getting a game for us at the moment. He hasn't been in our best once for Sandy.

Like I said before, I'm no fan of Godfrey but I feel he will prove valuable on Sunday.

i dont get y fergeson was dropped. he killed ottens when he was at FF and was great against essendon and pretty decent against the dogs. perhaps its cos there aint really anyone he would play on against the saints with nicholson being more suited to gerhig, slow yet strong and good body on body. we may just be a defender short though if any of em are needing a rest and i'd hate to see bruce or yze play down there. perhaps heff may have a defensive role

I was surprised to see Fergy make way to Nicho.

But then again Gehrig needs a gorilla on him.

IMO we have enough tall defensive cover as Rivers, Bizz and Wheatley are still in our backline.

but remember Bizz and Wheatley are there to help out, double team if u will the opposition forwards. Bizz, while giving good run out of defense against Geelong was beaten 1 on 1 against Kingsley constantly. if he didnt have such a shocking kicking night then Bizzell would have been seen to have had a bad night. he did kick 3.5 remember and that could have easily been a bag.

but then again saints dont have the luxury of 3 tall forwards.

Nicholson - Gerhig
Rivers - Fisher
Bizzell - Hammill

or perhaps give rivers a go on the rampaging Hammill to give him a big test that i am sure he is up 2.

i will be very dissapointed if we loose this as we have everything going for us except Whelan and Moloney but that pales in comparison to the saints injuries and the fact that it is being played at the TD

Any one of Rivers,Bell, Bizzell or Wheatley could play on Hamill.

Kingsley is a quick leading forward (thats why he tore up Bizz).

I wouldn't class Hamill as quick leading forward.

On Sunday I'd play either Bizz or Bell on Hamill.

IMO there isn't room for Nicho and Fergy in our best 22.

Fergy will be our FB most of the time but Nicho will come in against the gorillas.

yeh Bizzell will take Hammill and Rivers will take the inexperienced Fisher.

also wat do u think is NDs plan for Bell. he is 186cm with a solid build. he is kind of in the Bizzell mould, an undersized player who can play tall.

in the wizard cup game at the dome vs carlton he started n played on for most of the game, Brendon Fevola. from the 3rd tier with my great eyesight (not sarcasim i have perfect eyesight seriously) he looked to match him with height but still 186 is just 2 short i reckon. he will probably end up as a midfielder who can drop back but his height will give him an advantage

I think ND is giving Bell an apprentiship in the backline only to eventually get him a gig in the midfield.

Belly is getting the defensive things hammered into him.

With onballers like Moloney, Sylvia and McLean very forward minded, we need someone like Bell who can be a bit more defensive minded at times but still providing drive inside 50.

Well that's just my opinion anyway.

yeh he is emergency

d/w its not as dumb as some of you might think. fergeson will play on the quick, atheletic talls while nicholson will play on the gorillas.

we dont have a spot for both of them

He cant play if he's emergency.
Apparently, Wheatley is out, so Fergy might replace him, if thats what you meant.

I have to agree with you!

Godders has the worst disposal skills in the whole team.

Thats the rumour...........Fergy can count himself as very unlucky if he doesn't get a game

Dunno, Bev O'Connor said he was out on radio last night. I wouldn't doubt if she was wrong, mind you.

Godfrey was good for us today. Put his body on the line (crashed into Hamill without a second thought) and won a lot of contested possession. Will be getting a game next week and deserves it.

When u hav player like Nicholson and Godfrey playing in ur team u will never win a premiership.

I don't think players like Godfrey are the problem. He provides depth to our midfield, is a tough player, has superb fitness, can tag opponents and wins a fair bit of contested ball. With Moloney out and Read not yet match fit, Godfrey was chosen in our team and had a decent game. We still have McDonald, Bruce, Green, Moloney, Johnstone, Yze, Read, McLean, Sylvia and Rigoni & Heffernan (although he'd want to improve very soon) in front of Godfrey in the midfield. That's 11 players, plus the likes of Armstrong and Motlop who could surpass him on ability.

Nicholson on the other and, plays in a key position which is so much more vital to any team rather than a 12th choice midfielder.

That's the thing see? Of course Arma has better skills than Godders but until he can get his head down & start playing some consistent footy the hard work of Godders will always be rewarded.

Simple as that I reckon we can't pick blokes on potential alone.

I only saw patches of the game but in those patches it didn't show much of Godfrey, however I did see Nicholson.
He should be a permanent VFL player. He couldn't even keep up with Gehrig.

Exactly, someone like Godfrey who always works hard and puts his body on the line will be rewarded. Godfrey is one of the fittest blokes at the club, if not the fittest. He regularly wins the pre-season time trials every year.
