Going Bald!

Hey was watching FOX 8, and there is a new product www.leimo.com.au
not bad price $1295

Judging by the products on the site, don't even bother enquiring.... There are only two clinically proven products that have gone through enough testing to be federally approved and they are minoxidil and propecia.

Minoxodil is a topical solution that you apply twice a day and works mainly on hairloss on the crown of the head.

Propecia is in tablet form and works best on the crown of the head, but is also somewhat effective on frontal hairloss.

Both products are better at preventing further hair loss than growing hair, but both can grow hair to an extent. From the top of my head the effectiveness rate of minoxodil is about 33% and propecia a little higher.

Most of the hair clinics will put you on one or both of minoxodil and propecia, as well as give you a special shampoo and potentially laser sessions as well. It's certainly not cheap, i'd say $2500 a year would be a starting point. Think long and hard before you decide to get treatment because it is basically lifelong. Genetic baldness up until this point is only manageable and not reversible (excluding surgery).

I started losing my hair pretty young and freaked out at the start and looked everywhere to see what was available and in the end just felt ridiculous about the whole thing. I just went with #1 clippers and haven't looked back since.

Bushranger I don't know how old you are, but you should seriously be more considerate. Particularly when guys start to lose their hair it can be a sensitive issue.

my hairline is slowly receding but is becoming more noticable

i have a nice shaped head so im okay with shaving it later on

I didn't know I wasn't being considerate. I agree it is a sensitive issue. I just said I can't understand why you guys wouldn't just get what Brent Guerra had done, that is all I'm saying.

one thing to remember, it is damn cold when i shaved my head. i did a one afew months ago and it was really cold. word of advise, if you are going to do a leap of faith, do it in summer, have a gradual transition. Having said all that, i might grow my hair long again...

I also had a fear of losing my hair, and it started when i was 17. my hair was like a forest back then. throughout the years it's become thinner and thinner, even though my GP thought my hair was fine/normal even as recently as a month ago. oh well, I guess it's a part of growing old and growing old gracefully. and really, who's going to give a crap whether you have hair or not when you are 50-60?
