Season 16 was the inaugural season for the Gold City Royals coming into the league as the competition expanded to 10 teams, the bid was led by inaugural captain Easty. In the first ever game, the Royals lost to Roys FFC at The Golden Throne. In Round 3, the club's first ever victory would be recorded against the reigning premiers West Coast Wonders by 61 points, the defense holding the Wonders to a measly 24 points - their lowest ever score. It was a tough introduction for the Royals as 6 of the first 7 games played were losses and the first season would only yield 6 wins all together for a 9th place finish.

Nonetheless, there were still some strong performances during the season, Igloo became the inaugural Best and Fairest winner while The_Reaper was the inaugural leading goalkicker. Uncle_Leo took home the EKA Medal for best rookie on Mobbenfuhrer Medal Night while joining Marlowe and Igloo in the All-SFA team.

The Royals had a major leadership shakeup in the offseason before Season 17 with Easty abdicating the captaincy for Wise Guy Sam and okeydoke7. Son Of God also joined the club as the Royals shaped to be an off-field powerhouse.

However, after a promising first half of the season sitting at Round 9 with a 5-4 record, the Royals would collapse in the latter half only managing to win 2 more games to finish in 8th spot and again miss the top six required for finals.

The big off season recruitments still proved worthwhile as Son Of God won the club Best and Fairest on the back of a strong season as a goalkicking midfielder. okeydoke7 led the club goalkicking with 59 goals at full forward. On a successful Mobbs Night for the club; Marlowe, Son Of God, okeydoke7, and Wise Guy Sam were all selected in the All-SFA Team.

In Season 19, the Royals added Juggalo Balla (Papa Juggs) and notably recruited Blacky as a rookie on their way to their first finals appearance. It was a strong start to the season with the Royals managing to win 4 of their first 5 games. As at Round 12, the Royals were in a healthy position with an 8-4 record but missed out on top four after only managing a draw in the final 3 games to finish 5th.

It was a commanding win at home against the Bears in the first final, but a heavy loss to the Warriors in the semi-finals concluded the season. The Best and Fairest was won by Son Of God while Juggalo Balla took out the goalkicking award.

Another great season by Marlowe was rewarded with his fourth consecutive All-SFA selection, Son Of God and Juggalo Balla joined him on Mobbs Night as Royals All-SFA representatives.

Season 20 was a challenging one for the Royals on and off the field, the departure of Wise Guy Sam and Nakia along with several other key posters dropping off meant the club was coming under constant fire for inactivity issues throughout the season.

On-field it was an inconsistent start, with the Royals flourishing away, but struggling at home for the first half. The Royals recorded consecutive victories against the Roys and Furies for the first and only time of Season 20 in Round 9 and 10, sitting in the top four with a 6-4 record. However, a one-point penalty for late team sheet submission would spark a disastrous collapse of 6 consecutive losses bookended by heavy defeats to the Swamprats. This meant the Royals would finish second from the bottom.

Tommycash took out the Best and Fairest while Juggalo Balla led the goalkicking.

Heading into Season 21, the Royals added Footypie32 from the Demons and also Nakia as well as four rookies to bolster off-field posting depth. It was a fast start to the season, with the Royals managing to win 5 of the first 6 games before consecutive losses to the Wonders and Warriors. 4 victories from the next 5 games would have them well entrenched in the top four with a 9-4 record after Round 13. It would all fall apart afterwards though, as the recruitment of okeydoke7 brought a curse which led to a late season collapse; the Royals losing their final 3 games of the H/A season and exiting the finals in straight sets.

It was a breakout season for Blacky winning his first Best & Fairest while also earning All-SFA selection, ShanDog managed to lead the club goalkicking in his first season. 3KZ is Football would leave at the end of the season returning to the Roys.

Season 22 saw the Royals achieve their most successful on-field season to date recording 12 wins during the regular season and finishing atop the ladder for the club's first minor premiership. The offseason saw some significant changes with big name recruit BigJoeD_ and boom rookie Thatsapaddlin joining to replace the departing 3KZ Is Football while reigning best and fairest Blacky was promoted to co-captain alongside Marlowe.
The season was off to a shaky start with two defeats in the first three rounds. But four close wins from Round 4 to 7 against the Wolves, Demons, Hawks, and Dragons set up a healthy position at 5-2. Midway through the season the Royals would fall into a mini-slump with heavy home defeats to the Las Vegas Bears and Roys FFC. However, in the second half of the season the Royals would come home with a wet sail only dropping one more game for the remainder of the season to finish on top of the ladder, adding club veteran Nakia along the way.
In the First Qualifying Final, the Royals hosted Roys FFC. The majority of the game was in control before the Roys closed the margin to within a point early in the final quarter. However, 6 of the last 8 goals of the game meant the Royals prevailed by 26 points. The Royals would ultimately fall to the eventual premiers the Bears in a tight preliminary final by 2 points.
At Mobbenfuhrer Medal Night, Blacky would earn his second All-SFA selection for his stellar season and Thatsapaddlin would poll 7 votes in the EKA to finish equal 4th. Footypie32 was crowned the Best and Fairest after an impressive season starting in the ruck and later moving to the midfield; leading the kicks and disposal stats. ShanDog managed to win the leading goalkicker award for the second time amassing 83 goals for the season.

Season 23 was a tough season on the field for the Royals ending in the club attaining its first ever wooden spoon. Prior to the season start, the Royals signed controversial young player Hoooops and several rookies looking to better the preliminary final appearance the previous season. The season began in promising fashion being 3-3 after six rounds including strong wins against the Sin City Swamprats and East Side Hawks. However, the season would fall apart thereafter, the Royals only winning two more games for the rest of the season, Hoooops suffering a career ending injury in the early half.

Blacky played a lone hand on and off the field and was eventually rewarded with his third All-SFA selection and winning the Beez Trophy for league MVP in a landslide.

In Season 26, a season after adding the admin of the time Cloud_ (Kennedy Parker) to the team the Royals had once again fallen upon a period of inactivity and was in need of rejuvenation of the list. Initially, this was thought to hinge on the performance of upstart flog Kdavva74 (Cadaver) only for him to renege just before the season and it actually came in the form of fumbler coming aboard as co-captain, Sunshinetigers joining as a rookie along with grumbleguts and mrpremiership during the season. This was in addition to the signing of Rodney Dangerfield as the Royal "star" ruck rover who was destined to carry the midfield, win the Mobbs Medal and lead the Royals to glory. That was what we thought would happen after eviscerating the Bombers keeping them to only 16 points for the game, but it was all downhill from there as the season failed epically ended in a second wooden spoon. Paddles_ was inexplicably awarded no votes in a game against the Dragons where he kicked 5 goals, was the leading possession winner on the ground and had the most tackles which robbed him of the mobbs medal to insult to a terrible season.

After a miserable wooden spoon season the Royals were once again back to square one and in this case square one meant The Filth Wizard bringing back his nWo show to Gold City for nWo 2 Electric Boogaloo featuring TFW, nobz, Shaunduggan, brahj, the Quivster and Gentlemen. Around round 2, McEvoy fell out with the Bombers and found her way to Gold City as well. The season started as per usual with the Royals losing a lot, and then at the end of the season the Royals went on a winning streak which is very rare.

Anyway, that was all going well and good until the Royals reached finals and were bundled out by the Bombers of all teams.

Not much happened, Royals won some games, lost some and then got dropped by the Dragons in the elimination final.
