Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Wow does this need a bump. They are going into the biggest off season in trade history with the sheer amount of movement occuring

If Gold Coast had any brains here theyd go ballistic this trade period. Kicking the can down the road til when Tasmania comes in is stupid. If Humphreys wants to go then wave him goodbye. Just make sure that Charlie Curnow comes back... If Im Gold Coast id do the below

OUTS
Flanders to St Kilda for pick 7
Humphreys to Carlton for Curnow + pick 20 (Silvagni pick)
Ainsworth to Essendon for pick 28
Budarick to Bulldogs for pick 31
Rosas to Sydney for pick 49

INS
Christian Petracca for pick 6 + 31 (Demons to cover some salary)
Curnow + pick 20 for Humphreys
JUH for pick 71 (pay him minimum wage so Doggies cover the rest)
Ryan Burton as DFA
Take 4 draft picks

This gives them extra points they will still need for the Academy 3. Leaves team as

FB: B.Uwland, Collins, Andrew
HB: Noble, Ballard, Rioli
C: Fiorini, Rowell, Powell
HF: Weller, Curnow, Rogers
FF: Long, King, Read
R: Witts, Anderson, Petracca
I/C: Miller, W.Graham, Jeffrey, Farrar, Z.Uwland
EMG: Paterson, Davies, Moyle, Clohesy, Lombard, Holman, Burton, JUH, Walter, Addinsall

JUH somewhat preparing for Ben King to possibly leave if you ask me but otherwise give him 1 year in the VFL on zero dollars and see what happens. Back Jake Rogers in to replace Humphrey. Ballard coming back is HUGE, people sleep on him. Fiorini is a must keep. Get rid of Ainsworth to do that deal.

A top 4 side that

Pretty good. I suspect Suns will have to pay more for Petracca unless Flanders goes to Melbourne.

Bringing in Curnow does raise question about Walter future unless King would leave in 2026.

I suspect JUH would be lucky to play AFL games in 2026.

If Humphrey and Fiorini leave Suns could be trying to bring in Rowbottom. There are some rumours about Rowbottom.

Walter should wait til next year to be moved on in the sense you need to wait for King + you are likely to get a better deal next year as well. Academy 3 just makes it too hard for you guys to bring picks in. It requires a big juggling act. I also dont think anyone is worth grabbbing in that top 2 for you guys anyway.

Duursma has go home queries, CDT too similar to Read, Dyson Sharp too simillar to Rowell/Miller

A deal for Pick 7 and 35 for Eagles 16 and 22 and 23 will be done fairly early on in the trade period according to rumours over here. Pykes alluded to it already

Nets Gold Coast about 250 extra points plus likely stops us bidding on Uwland/PAtterson
Would probably do that if they agree on not bidding on our academy players

JUH to GC is a strange one.

Kingas a RFA next year will get massive offers. Getting ahead of that?

From reports King is happy at the Suns and looking long term.

Plans within plans.

I think Fiorini is a bit of a loss but if the 700k per year is true yeah you cant match that
Yeah, no ill feeling towards Brayden, 4 year deal setting himself up for post footy when we weren't/couldn't offer that security just makes sense for him.

Steady hand on the wing will be missed though. Reckon the club is pencilling in Zeke for that role next year.

So with Fiorini/Ainsworth/Flanders/Budarick going it was brought up elsewhere that Suns have 29 people on the main list. If Petracca comes in thats 30.... they then have to commit all draft points to Uwland/Paterson/Addinsall trio.... so whereabouts do the next 3 players actually come from here?

Aside from Brisbane, I’d have the Suns almost winning this trade period.

The moves they’ve made to dump salary cap, get top 10 picks for fringe mids and (hopefully) bring in an A grader in Petracca. All very good moves.

Not sure of the strategy of letting younger players like Flanders, Ainsworth and Humphrey look around, to get Petracca.

Flanders for a top 10 pick is daylight robbery.
Ainsworth was a cap dump. And they have better younger players who can develop in that position.
They have a lot of young talent that needs to start developing and getting games
Then getting Petracca in could push them to top 4 contending for a flag.

Got
Lombard
Zeke
Pattisnson
Rogers
Cloeshy
that have to start being played or will look else where.
Probably see some depth through dfa?

Problem is this group has virtually no AFL experience. Very hard to come straight in and contribute.

We had 9 players under 22 in our finals series this year, 3 of those players were teenagers with basically no experience.

Didn’t go so bad.

No chance they let Humphrey look around. Thats crazy

Ainsworth was just on too much money for a guy slipping out of the best 22. Flanders wasnt worth 900k+ given his role either

I think they are 2nd in the trade period when it comes to winners. Getting a Top 10 player in the league when on form for like Sam Flanders and some junk picks (thats how it works with academy bidding) and freeing salary

I think Ted Clohesy, Oskar Smartt, Lachlan Murphy, Ryan Byrnes, Ryan Burton, Will Phillips, Thomas Dow, Ben Hobbs would all be in the picture for them and then just 1 more young player to take 4 picks

Actually 28 if my sheet is correct. Petracca, JUH, 5 academy kids. That's 35. Need 36. E.g. upgrade from rookie list.

I would still expect a couple of rookies to go and getting some cheap mature depth.

For all players let go, I would say all are fringe.

Fiorini -> Clohesy, alternatively some games into acad kids Z Uwland, Patterson
Ainsworth -> Rogers/Lombard, We better to play both or could be a trade request (Rogers)
Budarick -> Rogers/Lombard
Flanders -> Graham/Davies, Graham absolute worrior

All above changes better IMO, haha.

Yes, I think depth will be tested with 6/7+ injuries. Most team would too.

Best 23 loaded and ready to go for top 4.

Suns cleaned up a lot of money by letting go 10 players from senior list.

Few of those lions kids did alright at the end of the year.
Most have had some experience but we are at the point it’s either you play them or lose them. To be honest they are an upgrade on fiorini and Ainsworth and I think those guys knew that.

We had 38 listed players, 2 Cat B and 6 Cat A rookies making a total 46 players at the start of the trade period.

Summary of who has left:

Swallow, Rosas, Ainsworth, Sexton, Lemmens, Berry, Flanders, Fiorini* and Budarick* - Main list

* Rumoured to be traded.

Johnston - Cat A rookie.

So we would have 29 main list, 2 Cat B rookies and 5 Cat A rookies if all goes to plan.

If we want to carry the extra Cat A rookie then we have a max 37 players on the main list. There we would have 8 player openings. These will be taken by the following:

Jamarra Ugle Hagan
Christian Petracca
Zeke Uwland
Dylan Patterson
Beau Addinsall
Koby Coulson
Jai Murray

One spare list spot.

Clohesy a good shout. The rest of those are list cloggers.

Boyd Woodcock probably deserves another shot at AFL level, been good for the Sharks for a while now.
