This week sees Bendigo play the inconsistent Gold Coast franchise away in Cairns..
It should be a good contest as Bendigo are well short on Essendon listed players. 13 Bendigo listed players have been named this week, beating last weeks record 12 Bendigo listed players.
RECENT MEETINGS:
In the only other meeting between these sides, Bendigo won a hard fought 26 point contest on TV in the VFL match of the round, back in round 5.
The 15.17.107 to 12.9.81 featured 8 goalkickers with Mark Williams leading all comers with 4, whilst Marcus Marigliani was in scintilating form early in the year to be named B.O.G.
TEAMS:
B: Hunt - Milani - Ah Chee
F: Liddle - Still - M.Williams
HB: Grayson - Tippett - Harley
HF: Duscher - Carlisle - Quinn
C: Iles - Lock - Daye
C: Houli - Myers - Marigliani
HF: Fowler - Dixon - Russell
HB: Atkinson - T.Slattery - J.Williams
F: Matera - McKenzie - Magin
B: Flaherety - Shinners - Hardingham
R: Smith - Weller - Swallow
R: Bock - Crameri - Scanlon
I/C: Haberfield - Nicholls - Liddy - D.Stanley - Shaw - Harris - Gugliotta - Stanley
I/C: Anderson - Delahunty - Collins - Page - James - Holmes - Bristow - Thompson
KEY MATCH UPS:
Christian Bock V Zach Smith
This should be an interesting match up between the two young guys trying to make it in the big time. The 205cm giant up and comer will enter into battle against the towering 205cm Christian Bock.
Smith has been a revelation since signing (?) with the Gold Coast franchise. He has been named in the best in 7 of his 12 games. Whilst on the opposite side of the ledger, Bock has been named in the bests in 3 of his 11 games this year.
Should be a scintillating match up between these two monsters.
Brandon Matera V Jarrod Atkinson
This has the potential to be a hit or bust, as these two fleet footed, lightning quick guys go at it.. Matera has been good this season, kicking 5 goals and being named in the bests in 6 of his 11 games to date this season, whilst Jarrod Atkinson has come on in leaps and bounds this season after earlier in his career being pigeon holed as a defender.
Atkinson with all his nous and experience should take the points here and push his name for a senior recall after being near best on ground in last weeks loss to Port Melbourne.
Charlie Dixon V Tyson Slattery
This also promises to be a good dual on paper, with Slattery being one of the form defenders in the VFL. He has been named in the bests in 5 of his 10 games.
The 200cm Dixon has had to hold down a key position post for the Gold Coast franchise and has done an ample job, kicking 11 goals in his 9 games, with a best of 2 on three occasions.
KEY PLAYERS:
Danny Stanley
Since being given a reprieve as an AFL footballer, Stanley has shown real leadership amongst the young Gold Coast group. His ability to work hard and get forward from the midfield has been a real added bonus this year, leading their goal kicking with a lowly 12.
One player who will be looking to make an impact coming off the bench where he has been named.
Ben Duscher
Since his debut two matches ago, Duscher has been a real revelation with his straight line attack and ferocity at the ball a real feature of his game. Playing as a high forward, his high marking has also been a real feature of his game, taking some A - grade contested marks for a man of his size (182cm).
His ability to get get in the right spot and read the ball off the pack has also been on show.
12 'votes' in two games (2 B.O.G's) and 5 goals (2 & 3 goal hauls) are impressive numbers for a player with only 2 games to his name..
A chance for a rookie spot if he continues his current form?
I would think so.

QUESTIONS:
Where are the goals for Bendigo going to come from?
Will the fleet footed Gold Coast side be able to finally gel?
Will the Bendigo listed guys be able to lift to the standard of the EFC guys?
Who is going to put their hand up and take the game by the scruff of the neck?
All questions I would love to find the answer out.. Sadly the game is being played in Cairns, so unable to go and see the match.
SUMMARY:
I think this game has alot riding on the chances of Bendigo's finals aspirations, with a loss putting them right back in the dog fight with Sandringham and Coburg..
Hopefully Bendigo can lift there game after the disappointing loss to Port Melbourne last week.
My tips;
Michael Still 4 goals
Marcus Marigliani in the bests
Bendigo by 19 points
If anyone is going to go to the game, a report is going to be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys, enjoy
