Just saw the highlights. Suns look damn good. Maybe they aren't the spoon lock that many predicted.
I think that they’re going to be much better this year, but we’ve seen this before. Gol Coast have looked strong in the preseason and the first part of the season, but they then end up collapsing by the end of the season, leaving them in the bottom 4.

I personally think they’ll finish higher than most people think they will, but I understand why some still have their reservations. Nevertheless, they’re building a really talented side.

The results itself wasn’t the biggest concern for Geelong. It was more that they looked very slow today and their game plan did not look like one for the modern era.

Which decent players were they missing today that can make them a quicker team?

Yes it’s only a preseason game, but Gold Coast’s 37 scoring shots in this game was only exceeded three times in the last 2 years (preseason, H&A season and finals series included). That was Melbourne’s 41 scoring shots against Gold Coast in 2018, Geelong’s 38 scoring shots against Fremantle in 2018 and GWS’ 38 scoring shots in 2019 against Carlton.

There is a possibility that Geelong may not have gone their hardest and may not have fielded their strongest side, but that’s still a big positive coming from a team that finished clear 18th in points scored last year by over 200 points.

It was a practice game for Geelong and the Suns took it as the real thing. The season proper is still a month away and there is no concern about a pre season loss on February 22nd! If the Cats lose to the Giants by 10 goals in the first round then PANIC!!!!!

Just like 2018 where West Coast kicked 39 points and lost by 10 goals in the pre-season, I’m certain that this result will mean a disastrous home and away campaign

To be honest I don't think Suns took it as real thing, majority of them in their first or second AFL pre season, just a hit out building chemistry.

Probably right but being a very young side with everyone vying for a spot they had a lot more to gain than we did.

Well I think we can guarantee that Gold Coast will go 22-0 on their way to a premiership this season.

Not that they won't play well, but slow recovery and injury are their constant companions at that age
You'd have to think that it's this year or bust for Geelong
I'm just aiming for fewer blowouts and a stronger second half of the season, but we can at least look forward to a mid field over the next couple of seasons

UP THE MIGHTY SUNS!!!

Hardly, they beat a team that had no right to finish as high on the ladder as they did in 2019.
How do you come to that conclusion? We were miles in front at the halfway mark after beating Collingwood, Adelaide, Hawthorn, North and Richmond all away.
Only loss was at home.
Cantered through the rest of the year and looked pretty good at HT vs the red hot tigers in a prelim whilst missing Hawkins, Duncan and a wingman we desperately needed being Clark.
With them we are likely premiers.

WC won the premiership the year before without Naitanui, Gaff and Shepard despite being 5 goals down in front of a hostile crowd. Geelong were in a winning position at half time with a 21 point lead that should've probably been greater, putting those 3 players in the side doesn't change the fact that the entire team rolled over after half time allowing a 40 point turn around when they had the tigers on the ropes. 2 goals after half time in a prelim final shows a lack of a resolve and desire throughout the entire team, a couple of personnel changes doesn't fix that.

Agreed. Lots of trolls wanting to make something of these Mickey Mouse games. Am sure the Suns were focussing on a game plan that can see them win games and the Cats on variations they have not tried before.
