A mate pointed this out to me at the weekend, the Gold Jacket has a long list of sad endings for us and/or for them after players win it. When he rattled off the list I was really surprised at how many of the peak of our club had ended badly.

ROB, got a five year deal, turned to mediocre

Brad Crouch, pushed out for a badly miscalculated Compo Pick

Matt Crouch, whole situation has turned ugly

Sloane, gets a lucrative long deal, starts to fade as a player, does an ACL, disquiet about his come back

Danger, wins and says seeya later, I'm off to Moggs Creek to win a couple of Brownlows

Talia, career ends in a bit of a mess

Thompson, goes on a year too long

Vince, pushed out the door, we use his trade pick on Matt

Bock, leaves for a truck load of $, career ends sadly

McLeod, just sad really

Ricciuto, much loved but becoming much loathed as the manipulator behind our current malaise

While i agree with ROB and the crouches you could probably find something similar at any club

Alternative history:

Club imploded post-2017 and the club champion was simply the least bad player and therefore. We were so uncompetitive that players who played well when we were good got less good when they had to play a bad team and also people got older and slower.

But yeah I like your curse idea
