I remember in the preseason games, Goldy was being played as that outside winger and actually did very well. It was also something he said that he has been working towards in the preseason (before he was forced to go and play third tall).
So, with us desperately needing some outside run and with the big unit Lynch presumably playing ruck/forward (giving us 2 full time KPFs in Cloke/Dawes), would Goldsack be better off on the wing or in the middle instead of up forward where we might be a bit top heavy?
That's before we even contemplate bringing back Ned Kelly into the team.
He's hard at the contest and at the man, sticks his tackles, can be a 1v1 beast, is deceptively fast and has a penetrating kick (50-55m consistently, plus his torps).
Daisy in full flight on one wing, and Goldsack on the other. Potential for some epic line breaking right there.
His work defensively at both ends of the ground also shows that he has what it takes to shut out opposition players. There might be room for him to be rolled into the guts and play that much talked about tagging role.
Now, he's not the smartest footballer going around but this was the first season in years where he's had almost the full preseason and look at the results. Another good preseason with quality instruction from the coaches would help him even more.
He's finally built up a bit of bulk and consistency into his game, so do you think this the next step for Moneybags?
