Cue all Goldstone lovers.......loosely sprouting his a champion. I guess for many here one top class game equals a top season. Also would highlight his top class game comes when we give Maj the sars @ half time. This is an alarming trait of Goldstein.

You sound upset that he played well, odd.

He's not though, that's the thing.

He's not a dominant ruck man, but he doesn't need to be. He's actually at the top end of second ruck men in the comp. dunno why people think he can't do the job when he has for three years.

Maybe there's the age argument, as in it will reduce Drew's time in the game, but when he's out of form it's a way to get him in the game.

Goldie also thrives being one out, as shown tonight in the second half in particular.

If Maj plays it needs to be as a forward, with the ability to help in the ruck. Shouldn't be in the team because he can ruck.
Agree with this. The 'chop out' factor is overstated on this board. Whether it is Drew or Maj makes little difference. For Maj to stay in this team for the rest of the year he's gonna have beat Taz as a forward

No Tas, Im honestly not mate.....but honestly its been wayy too long between drinks.

I think people are way too harsh on him, to expect him to demolish his opponent in one-on-one contests every week, it is just completely unrealistic and it is why you don't rate him.

He can't ruck 95% of the game and have the tank to run all over the ground like an idiot, most sides are running two genuine ruckmen against him, you have to factor the benefit of an extra midfielder's stats into Goldy's to appreciate the workload he is doing.

I am glad he stepped up, because we really needed it, his second half wasn't a drink, it was popping the champagne and you have to understand what reality is so you can appreciate what he did in the second half.

It isn't overstated.....in 2012 he ran out of steam when we need it most-----> Finals. But his inability to share the load is his worst nightmare. Maybe, just maybe, we need to give him a break or 2 leading into the finals. Make it a preplan.......so he feels 'secure" and his job security isn't in question.

Hitout differentials over the last few years

2011: +1.1 (5th)
2012: -3.9 (11th)
2013: +8.3 (2nd)
2014: +4.8 (5th)

Currently behind Freo, WC, GWS and Carl.

Did anyone hear Carey's comments about Ruckmen in general (discussion on Sandilands at the time) quote " if they can't take marks around they're useless " ......

Its been what Ive been saying all along ....I prefer to see Goldy taking more marks around they ground, and up until the Richmond game he only had 6 marks to his name for 2014.....he almost tripled it in one game.

Team with the most hitouts wins 52.8% of matches. Team with the most hitouts to advantage wins 55.6%.

Not a go at you but just curious which AFL or state league team Wayne Carey currently coaches?

He's becoming a very critical man without putting his own philosophies on the line in any tangible form.
