I imagine these nuffies would have been throwing tantrums end of the 1996 season too.

These are the type of list management decisions we should be making, not the garbage Jenkins, Sloane multi year big dollars until you're 32/33 anchor around our neck deals.

Which were insane because we allow these guys to play injured, get more f’ed up and we are then completely surprised that their bodies fall apart when they hit 30.

The issue with Sloanes contract is that we are reticent to move him out of the guts because it'd mean our highest paid player was a HFF ( which Carlton doesn't have issues with but still). It was a strange call at the time where we coughed up big to stem the flow of players leaving the club but given the injury, he had at the time and his lack of effectiveness when tagged, it was both of the worst sins of contracts put together. You can pay a player too much, if the contract is short, or give a player a long contract if you don't pay much but to give one both, when he wasn't in the top 10 players in the league was just really poor from Reid

So we gave Gibbs a farewell match against the Blues, but Talia won't get one. This part of it doesn't sit right with me.

It's a strange situation where an absolute champion of the club and loyal player and leader just faded away without closure.
Talia isn't fit to play though.

so we move on a 29 year old and a 30 year old, whilst the rest of the comp is full of players over this age.
Would you prefer for Murray or Butts to play in the sanfl as we are rebuilding?

for those saying "I hope you find success at another team" surely that will prove what an error the club has made, given that we are bottom of the ladder and putrid in defence?
No, honestly I hope he goes to a contending team & chases a flag in his final years... as he deserves it as a great club servant.

If we kept him, he would be denying games from Murray or Butts, which would be crazy in a rebuild.

Good luck DT, as you gabe your all for our club.

People should get it through their skulls that we are 'Adelaide Football Club' supporters, not 'Daniel Talia Supporters' or 'Tex Walker Supporters'.

Individuals come and go from clubs, but the club and the supporters are the one who are here till the death bed. It's about time some of our supporter base understood that.

I wish Talie and the departing players well, they had their crack and didn't win - now it's time for the next group.

Will be remembered as a dead set legend of the club and one of our greatest ever defenders. When fit, Talia was the true definition of a “reliable defender”.

I think it’s pretty clear what the club agenda is - more speed and fresh legs will be our new brand for 2022. Sad Lynch and Talia will no longer be with us, but by the same token, it’s probably the right direction for the club to be heading.

Thanks to Talia for a wonderful career. If there's one player you could count on doing his job every week it was him.

That being said it's the right decision to let him go. We don't want to find ourselves in a situation where we aren't playing Murray / Butts or even shutting the door on guys like McAsey to come in and have their chance when the time comes. We're rebuilding, it's about the next group now, just with a scattering of experience around them rather than heaps of it.

As far as compo etc goes I'm really not fussed, just happy the club has made the decision & can focus properly on the rebuild. I hope someone is interested in Talia & I'm sure there will be someone whose more than happy to bring him in as a back up if not first choice player for a year or two.

Agreed, I just want to move on now and I am excited to see us really go for the rebuild.

Well said.

The supporters are the ones emotionally invested in the club for a lifetime whilst players and coaches come and go.

I think the end for Tails & Lynch has been handled in the most respectful way possible. Literally

no squirrelling round with offers, compensation, deciding what to do, ambiguities or other

just man conversations, clear, upfront and with our blessings to go out into the world and see if there is any interest.

gives the fans notice, and is just clear and straightforward

we’re a rebuilding side, we have no need for veterans at that stage of their career.

it’s such a respectful way to send them with off with the entire club and communities blessing I would not be surprised if this becomes the new standard for the right way to do things around the league

You dont actually believe that horseshit you just wrote do you?..

the only games lynch hasnt played this year are the ones he was injured to the point he could barely walk.. and even then they put him as the sub.

Talia, if he wasnt injured, wouldve played every single game from round 1.

youre delusional if you think otherwise and he’d be getting another year for sure.
I think the saying is if, buts and candy nuts.

He was, he didn't and he hasn't.

Real shame of not being able to get on the park. Terrific servant of the club, but father time catches everyone eventually.

Would be a hell of a pick up for a side trying to win a flag. Can still come in and do a job.

for me that’s the point, his gold watch farewell gift

run free with our blessing, we’ve sent the message to everyone that we’re not going to get in the way

A wonderful player for the club. Takes Full Back in an all-time Crows team. Rarely beaten. Committed to the club long term without all the drama of most other big name players. Always gave his all.

Well done Talia on a great career. He would’ve been guiding Butts this season - who looks a lock to hold down that key defensive post for the next generation and a reason why we can let Talia go.

When we were challenging for the flag, I always thought he and Jacobs were the two most important players we couldn’t afford to lose. Had we had Talia in the 2012 PF, who knows, we may have won.

A Crows great. Perhaps, like a Shaun Rehn, he finishes off his career at another club, but he will always be a great of the Adelaide Football Club.
