Didn't we trade Hartigan to Hawthorn for a nothing pick?

Yep, so that it didn't clash with the Comp pick they got for Isaac Smith (Pick 42?)

Both Hartigan and Smith had contracts put in front of them with their respective clubs

So we are still a KPD short for 2022. Are we planning to trade for one?

We still have too many.

Butts, Murray, Borlase, now Frampton, possibly Worrell, and McAsey.

Let it sort itself out next year.

Disappointed with this one - not saying it’s the wrong call, but it is an odd approach.

We constantly give mixed messages - selection policy supports that we’re “mostly rebuilding,” - list management that we totally are.

I would’ve kept Talia, gun in every aspect and a genuine leader, but I can understand the decision.

I hope he plays on somewhere and experiences more success.

So what does this leave us with as far as experienced players goes next year, if we define experienced as 100+ games?

Crouch, Kelly, Sloane, Seedsman, Brown, Smith, Laird, Mackay. And no guarantee that Crouch Kelly and Mackay will be here, either, so that leaves us with only 5 100+ game players? That would have to be pretty close to the least in the comp?

While I'm all for rebuilding, there is such a thing as going too far towards inexperience. Need to target some experienced players in trade / free agency or it could end up looking like the early years of GWS, without the benefit of the draft concessions they had.

It's comfortably the least in the competition, as we came into the season with the least 100 gamers.

It's hard to say if we're at that point. We've gone long swathes this year without Talia, Lynch and Crouch. Kelly's and Mackays experience is also nullified by the fact both are not impactful footballers either.

We also have to be careful who we recruit. Bringing someone who has 100+ games in is downright harmful in a rebuild if they're not genuinely good footballers.

Geeez the Facebook nuffies are really getting their knickers in a knot over this
Those are the same idiots who think Dmac is a hard done by, underrated player.

If they had their way, we'd still have Trigg, Chapman and Neil Craig running the club.

Probably should have been captain, hes a star. This feels pretty rough but understand the direction the club is going in. He's been very loyal, wouldn't've against a one year deal considering we now have 0 experienced KPDs. If he passes a medical theres 100% chance he gets pick up by a top club, quality KPDs are in demand.

Not surprised, unfortunately Tals just cant get in the track.
Been a great servant for the club, club legend.
Thanks Tals you legend.

Well the club is showing a new ruthlessness. Tough calls have to be made

The club would have based their decision off the medical report and likely feel that the money is better spent elsewhere. Hopefully he wins a flag somewhere else if his body is capable for a year or two. We must get games into our future that are just as good as Talia.

You'd think after the failure of Frawley at St Kilda ....Talia will be chased by both St Kilda and ESS
