That’s only true for those on league minimum award. Players like Sauce don’t sign for a base amount plus extra for games played. It’d only be low level players forced to sign contracts set up like that. This has been done to death but every now and again someone rolls in who has no idea and sprouts the same rubbish.
Every player receives match payments. It's where the MRP/Tribunal fines come out of.

They don’t. The VERY simple fact is that not all players have a ‘base plus games’ component to their agreement. Most don’t, its only the draftees on the EBA and the lowly valued players that have contracts that are base plus games. Most players outside of their EBA + games played deal are simply not amongst the top 30% of players

He should have played SANFL finals regardless of any contract terminology, more that it was the right thing to do. He clearly qualified and it’s a fair and reasonable expectation that afl listed players play sanfl finals.

Other than that, great career with us, he was awesome when winning those showdown medals.

That is simply not true. The EBA provides for a minimum base salary and minimum match payments for players on the base. Players on the minimum must get the match payment if they play AFL, but players can, AND DO, sign fixed contracts that are in excess of the EBA minimums with no games played component. We’ve been through this before, there’s an award style structure for first and second year draftees, everyone else is on individual agreements that may or MAY NOT include a per game played component.
