Happy Chinese New Year !!! - it was actually yesterday.

2002 is the year of the horse.

Here is the official chinese new year predictions for each club based on when the club was born (played their first game)

Predictions from http://www.chinatown-online.org.uk/horsezodiac.html

Adelaide - est 1991 - Ram (Adelaide Rams!!!  )

Ram: This is a very positive year for those born in the year of the ram. It will be a year of fun, success and great opportunities for socialising.

Satay Mat - a good year for the crows, possibly diminished only be internal discipline problems. Prediction - 2nd

Brisbane est 1997 - Ox

Ox: Bide your time this year and guard against acting rashly. Try to remain calm and await the right time to act.

Satay Mat - Expect Brisbane to finish 5th and have a great finals series.

Carlton - est 1864 - THE PIG !!!!:D :D

Pig: Don't judge yourself too harshly, particularly for what you perceive as missed opportunities last year. This year may prove troublesome, so keep your sights fixed on the future rather than the past.

Satay Mat - looks like 2001 was the beginning of the end rather than the end of the beginning for the blues. Prediction 10th

Collingwood - est 1892 - The Dragon

Dragon: Last year saw some difficulties and these will continue unless you redouble your efforts to overcome them. Ride out periods when you feel unsettled as these will pass.

Satay Mat - 9th......again.

Essendon - est 1873 - The Rooster

Rooster: It may be hard, but try not to lose your temper this year. Keeping your self control and thinking through problems in a calm and collected way rather than following your intuition will help you to find the best solutions to problems.

Satay Mat - not an easy year for the Bombers. Injuries and loosing the close one's will hurt. Will not trouble the scorers in the finals. Prediction 6th.

Footscray - est 1883 - The Ram

See Adelaide

Satay Mat - A good year for the doggies. Success on the field will finally equate to some financial stability and a reason to celebrate....Prediction 4th.

Fremantle - est 1995 - The Pig

see Carlton

Satay Mat - "problems of last year" means a whole different thing for Freo than the Blues though. Prediction Stone Mothering Last.

Geelong - est 1859 - The Ram

see Adelaide

Satay Mat - Party time down at the Scottish Chiefs in Geelong. Some success but I fear the "great opportunities for socializing" may be referring to lots of spare time for Spring picnics. Prediction 12th

Hawthorn - est 1873 - The Rooster

See Essendon

Satay Mat - a hard year for the Hawks to back up the 2001 performance. Anger will rise as they lose a few they shouldn't. Should learn from the "intuitive" treatment given to Croad in the trading period. Prediction - 7th

Melbourne - est 1859 - The Ram

See Geelong and Adelaide

Satay Mat - more success, more partying. The pretty boys will be in full swing down with the teeneys in the Metro. "Success" will relate to picking up pretty, young, keen things....good luckSpidey !! ;) Prediction 3rd

North Melbourne - est 1869 - The Snake

Snake: Be prepared for change this year. For some this may mean a spell of ill health. Consider all options carefully, as opportunities to travel may present themselves.

Satay Mat - injuries will take their toll. Financial trouble will see a serious offer to merge with Southport. Prediction - 15th
4
Port Adelaide - est 1870 :) - The Horse
Horse: As this is your year, there is the potential to do well in all spheres. Seize opportunities without delay. Don't allow minor setbacks to deter you.

Satay Mat - 'nuff said.

Richmond - est 1885 - The Rooster

See Essendon & Hawthorn.

Satay Mat - much the same message as the Hawks. 2001 will prove somewhat of a false dawn as injuries and other clubs taking them seriously will take it's toll. Prediction 8th.

St Kilda - est 1873 - The Rosster

See Essendon, Hawthorn, Richmond

Satay Mat - "It will be hard"....always has a different meaning though in relation to St Kilda. Expect the coach and all the board to go, as this seems to be the traditional response to "it will be hard" down at Morrabin. Prediction - 13th.

Sydney - est 1874 - The Dog

Dog: Your professional life should prove more successful than family life this year. Although it is important to work hard, do not neglect your family, as this could be storing up trouble for the future.

Satay Mat - The Swans begin to lose members, sucking up ever more to the corporate greed which is our Harbour City. "Profesional Life" unfortunately refers to finances. Prediction 14th.

West Coast Eagles - est 1987 - The Rabbit

Rabbit: Though generally a tranquil person, this is the rabbit's year to party. Make the most of the opportunities your social life will offer you this year, as there may be leaner times ahead.

Satay Mat - Party Hard 'cause you will not be winning too many games. Learn a lot from St Kilda over the past few decades in that regard. Prediction 11th

Based on this my prediction is a Showdown Grandfinal (Port v Adelaide) with Port Prevailing in the Year of the Horse !!!

If we finish above the Hawks, I'm fair dinkum bringing this thread up again.

Whilst I suspect you'll still be attending games in 2003, I think you're over-estimating the gap between the sides.

I like the Dogs, I think they're a chance for the bottom half of the eight, but if we're in that section, we're going backwards. I also remember Round 20 vividly.

No sleight intended on the Woofers, although it doesn't read all that well on reflection.
