Good article from Mooney, although not sure Reid will play forward.

Will be stoked to have him back though wherever he plays.

Would love nothing more than seeing Buckley hold the premiership cup as Coach.

Bucks has said Reid is playing down back for the 2015 Season

I have to admit I questioned Buckley after last year, but a good mate of mine convinced me (before the start of this year) that Buckley was the man and was building thing right and I have to admit (happily) he was right and I was wrong...so far at least anyway.

He was always my favourite player and I always hoped he would be a great coach and maybe he is showing that he can be.

Decent article, but a predictable one. Mooney has been Buckley's most vocal cheerleader in the media has made many of these same arguments and points before. Which, it must be said, are valid...

Good read. Still a long way to go yet.

With Brown and Frost looking the goods down back and Goldsack IMO having his best career season in black and white looking so much more comfortbale down back and a a kick out specialist, Reid is looming to play in attack and what an attack it could be.
Cloke, Reid, Elliott, Fasolo.....then we can rotate Blair, White, Broomhead etc.

There's always one of them, screaming some incoherent babble, desperately trying to convince us all (and themselves) that they are still of relevance.
But they are still relevant... They have the untouchables, remember? Remember when all the Brisbane supporters said they would finish above us and make finals? They must be relevant if that's the case.

They have obviously gotten him a "cloke of invisibility" cause I haven't seen him....o_O

Reminds me of a prominent Carlton supporter on the main board who last year suggested that Carlton were still relevant because they were newsworthy.

There's a difference between being relevant to a discussion on footy and the papers giving you headlines because your coach is sinking and your list is a mess. ;)

Things change. We looked undermanned down back before the season, but they have done okay so far.

Have to be something Drastic for that to Happen as you would think 3 of Cloke,White,Gaut even Moore then Reid could play Forward

I remember in the pre-season their were a group of Carlton supporters who were adamant that they would finish above us... Wonder how that's going for them :p

What he really inherited were culture problems left over from the previous caretaker

It was only the youngest premiership list in chronological age

But the reality was players like Wellingham and Daisy were never going to get back to what they were and unlike Hawthorn and Geelong our players were all cooked at 30 (Didak Jolly etc)

There was a very revealing article a while back that compared the post 2010 party boys to the uncompromising leadership driven premiership teams of Hawthorn and Geelong, the implication being that we had quite a celebration that compromised fitness, injury management and longevity and didn't look like ending until Bucks got a hold of them and was forced to weed out the rotten apples

That's not the youngest premiership list in my books, that was someone else's mess that had to be cleaned up and hasn't Bucks done a magic job of it

So lot of the Boys got Big Heads and Thought they did not had to put in the Hard Work to stay at the Top.

I guess we could guess the Players that where let go fitted into that type of person and Bucks brought in the Opposite Types?

I don't think everything should be taken as factual RE Ben Reid, at the end of the day it is an opinion piece. Mooney (like many other people including myself) think we would be a better side with Ben Reid down forward than we are with him down back. Now is Reid going to play down forward, No. I know that, you guys know that, but if someone was asking me our best side, I would say forward knowing full well he is going to play down back.

Much like Moore, a lot of people here have him as a forward in the future, yet hes only ever played down forward with us due to injuries. It's no different here when Mooney says Reid to go forward.

Buckley has been on record saying we intend to play Reid in defence for 2015. But of course, that's meaningless, because if we all of a sudden decide he needs to play forward, he will play forward. If that happens to be 3 minutes before list lodgement in Reids return, then so be it. Also those comments from Buckley were ages back, and situations change so rapidly that even if he made the comment that Reid would return to the forward line this week, it could still prove to be false.

tl;dr who cares what anyone says, til it happens.

A rather complimentary article. Looking forward to seeing how we fare over the next 5 weeks and whether the media changes its tune. Reid is an AA backman, I think Bucks will bring him back through that position and likely move Goldsack fwd... in any case a fit reid playing anywhere on the ground would be great. Interesting comment on the failed Lynch, Russell, Young free agency trades... From what is said about Lynch's professionalism/training standards and youngs leadership around the club, on field they may have not performed (while i don't think young has been too bad for us), off-field they may have been key in assisting Bucks institute a stronger culture? ... maybe a loss for on field, a win for off-field performance?

If Reid were to come in right now, I'd wager he'd be playing forward. Brown and Frost combined are playing just well enough to warrant at least seeing how we function with Reid in the forward line. Remember, when the mids and forwards are playing well, the backline can lift and attack with confidence knowing everything up front is working as it should.

Ideally, you'd want Reid playing forward because he will improve everyone else around him by simply being there. Reid would demand just as much attention as Cloke, maybe more so given he's an accurate kick for goal and most would know that.

But White would be the biggest beneficiary of Reid's presence in my opinion.

Good read, he starts out on the fence and by the end of the article can't contain himself and backs Bux in.

Reid might be right come finals time which would be great, three games or so to end the home and away season, show the body can hold up and then be cherry ripe for some finals footy. Bux has said that Reid needs to show he is robust and can handle the rigors of AFL footy again, he will not be rushed.
